Viktor Orbán hat in seiner Neujahrsansprache den Austritt Ungarns aus der EU angekündigt.

Publisher’s rating: Die Behauptung ist falsch. Berichte über eine entsprechende Ankündigung Orbans sind frei erfunden.

The claim was that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced Hungary would leave the European Union in a New Year’s address, citing criticism of the EU and unfulfilled promises. The review says that the alleged speech did not take place: “Es hat zum Jahreswechsel 2022/23 überhaupt keine Rede des ungarischen Regierungschefs gegeben.” Instead, Orbán uploaded a short year-in-review video on New Year’s Eve. The review reports that the video did not mention leaving the EU. To check whether the speech could be found in other records, the review says it examined Orbán’s official Facebook account, the Hungarian government’s website and his personal website. It found no announcement of an intended departure. The review also notes that Hungarian media regularly report on the prime minister’s statements and public appearances, yet reports of this purported announcement were absent. These checks address both the claimed speech and the supposed announcement attributed to it. The review points to a possible origin for the fabricated account: a post on the Russian social network VK, circulated in English and German. A speaker on the YouTube channel @LebeninUngarn referred to that post but said he had not found the alleged address. The evidence described in the review therefore supports the conclusion that the specific New Year’s announcement was invented, rather than a statement made by Orbán.

Der Ehemann von EU-Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen ist der Direktor des Pharmaunternehmens Pfizer.

Publisher’s rating: Das ist falsch. Heiko von der Leyen ist Direktor des Unternehmens Orgenesis.

The claim concerns Heiko von der Leyen, the husband of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and alleges that he is a director of Pfizer. The review identifies him as the person at issue and says the claim circulating on social media was that he was “der Direktor des Pharmaunternehmens Pfizer.” It reports that the couple have been married since 1986 and that, since September 2020, he has been medical director of Orgenesis, a company specializing in cell and gene therapies. To examine a possible Pfizer connection to Orgenesis, the review says it consulted public information about the publicly traded company’s shareholders. It reports finding no Pfizer entry there, and no indication in the US securities regulator’s records that Pfizer was an Orgenesis shareholder. The review explains that owners of more than five percent of a listed US company must report their holdings to the regulator. These checks address whether Pfizer owned Orgenesis, not merely whether the companies operate in the same broad pharmaceutical sector. The article qualifies the ownership finding: it cannot rule out Pfizer holding less than five percent of Orgenesis. But it says that possibility would not support the claim that Pfizer was decisively involved in Orgenesis’s management. The evidence presented instead identifies Heiko von der Leyen’s position as medical director of Orgenesis, not Pfizer.

A rare old of photo of Amit Shah and Narendra Modi

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerns a photograph said to show Narendra Modi and Amit Shah together in 1993. FACTLY’s review says the image was taken during Modi’s visit to Germany that year, but identifies the man standing beside him as Sanjiv Oza, not Shah. That distinction is central: the photo’s age and setting do not establish that the second person is Amit Shah. The review describes tracing the image through reverse image search, which led to articles from May 2022 featuring the same photograph. It also reports finding a social-media response naming the man as Dr Sanjivbhai Ojha of Rajkot. FACTLY then says it located a Facebook profile named Sanjiv Oza and compared an older picture on that profile with the person in the viral photo; the review says they looked very similar. As further support for the identification, FACTLY reports that Oza confirmed to BoomLive that he was the person standing beside Modi. The review also notes that a Hindustan Times report called the man Modi’s colleague but did not name him, while ANI had published a report about the photograph. Taken together, the review’s account distinguishes the reported 1993 Germany image from the unsupported identification of the person in it as Amit Shah.
