Dezember 2020 in Paris aufgezeichnet.

Claim: Fake news shared as US nurse Tiffany dead after covid 19 vaccination trail
Publisher’s rating: Fact Crescendo Rating: False
The claim connects a truck shown in a Facebook image to the arrival of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine doses in Switzerland in December 2020. The review traces the image to a 2019 report by the French regional newspaper Le Républicain Lorrain. It says the newspaper published the original photograph in connection with a road accident on 4 March 2019 on the A4 between Phalsbourg and Saverne, in eastern France. To check the image’s provenance, the review reports that a Bing image search led to the 2019 article and its original photograph. In that photograph, the truck door bears the name NYD Mamour, while the truck’s white tarpaulin has no logo. The review therefore identifies the Pfizer branding in the circulating image as an alteration, rather than evidence that the pictured truck transported vaccine doses. The review separately confirms the Swiss delivery chronology: the first Pfizer/BioNTech doses arrived by road on 22 December 2020, and army spokesperson Stefan Hofer confirmed their safe arrival and handover to the Army Pharmacy. It says the Army Pharmacy coordinated distribution, with doses repacked according to cantonal orders. The review also notes that the army did not disclose precise logistics details; it does not identify the truck in the altered image as part of that delivery.

The image at issue is the one circulated on Facebook showing two embracing women with the words ‘vaccinatie maakt vrij’ and a Dutch government logo. The review traces it to a Nieuwspaal article dated 2 January 2021, rather than to a government campaign. That article presented the slogan as the idea of an Amsterdam advertising agency for a government information campaign about coronavirus vaccinations. The review explains that the Nieuwspaal article linked the supposed advertising agency to a De Speld website, describing De Speld as another satirical platform. It therefore treats the campaign described in the article as satire, not as an actual government initiative. The review also notes that Nieuwspaal had described its own articles as satire intended to entertain or prompt thought. The image’s photograph has a separate provenance: the review identifies it as a Shutterstock stock photo made by Dean Drobot and says it was first posted in 2017. Thus, the presence of a government logo and the campaign wording in the image do not establish that the government created it; the review’s account instead links the image to the satirical Nieuwspaal article.
TIME magazine article praising the Uttar Pradesh government for its COVID-19 management
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
Factly examined a social-media claim that TIME magazine published an article praising the Uttar Pradesh government’s COVID-19 management. Its review reports that it checked the physical India edition of TIME dated December 21/December 28, 2020, and looked for the article in the contents page. The title was not listed there, and Factly says it also did not find the article in the international issue. The article’s own presentation offered another important clue: Factly observed the label “CONTENT FROM UTTAR PRADESH” at the top left. It also noted differences in fonts between that article and TIME’s editorial articles, and that the relevant pages had no page numbers. These observations support the distinction between editorial material and content presented as sponsored, rather than showing that TIME itself authored the article. Factly further reported that TIME had clarified to The Quint by email that the article was “sponsored content.” On the evidence described in the review, the claim that TIME published the piece as its own editorial article was false; the review identifies it instead as sponsored content.

The review examines a circulating video presented as evidence that an antigen test gives a positive result with apple purée. It reports that the video’s final image clearly shows only the control line. Under the Siemens test instructions cited by the review, a visible control line without a test line indicates a negative result. The footage is poor quality, however, so the review says it cannot establish whether the test line is faintly colored. Because Roche’s instructions count faint or uneven test lines as positive, the review proceeds on the cautious assumption that the apple-purée sample shows two lines. The review explains why that appearance does not demonstrate a valid positive result for SARS-CoV-2. In the test design it describes, a test line appears when viral antigens in a human sample interact with antibodies on the strip. The review says acids can disrupt the structure of proteins and thereby make the strip’s color particles visible. It also cites a Clemson University list giving apple purée a pH of 3.1 to 3.6. Thus, even accepting the video’s ambiguous line as visible, the review attributes it to the acidic sample affecting the test strip, not to a technically valid detection of viral antigen. The review also identifies a relevant procedural omission: Siemens instructions call for dissolving the sample in extraction buffer before applying it to the test strip. It describes that buffer as helping prevent substantial pH fluctuations. The video’s appearance, as discussed in the review, therefore does not establish that the test is unreliable when used with the prescribed procedure or that apple purée has tested positive for coronavirus.
