The post argued that because the coronavirus supposedly lived for 8–12 hours, a 14-hour Janata curfew would keep it from contacting people for long enough to destroy it. The review identifies the post as one shared on Instagram by the account bhallatanya.16 and says it circulated after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the curfew for Sunday, March 22, 2020, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The review’s conclusion is that the claim about the break killing COVID-19 is misleading. To assess the claimed lifespan, the review reports examining a study in the New England Journal of Medicine. It describes the experiment as aerosolizing virus in an environment designed to resemble samples from the human respiratory tract, then measuring how long it remained detectable. The reported findings varied by material: at least three hours in air, up to four hours on copper, 24 hours on cardboard, and two to three days on plastic and stainless steel. Those results do not support a universal 8–12-hour lifespan. The review also reports consulting Dr. Sudeep Khanna of Indraprastha Apollo, who rejected the assertion that the virus would die in 8–12 hours, and cites WHO guidance that survival on surfaces varies with conditions. It distinguishes the curfew’s potential role in reducing contact from the post’s claim that the break itself would eliminate the virus: the review says reduced contact could help limit community spread, while emphasizing social distancing rather than viral destruction.
Message from the BMC – ‘There is a higher stage of corona which cannot be detected but is infected to small children till the age of 30’
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerns a message circulating on social media under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Health Department’s name and logo. It says there is an undetectable “higher stage of corona” affecting “small children till the age of 30.” FACTLY’s review checks the message’s claimed origin: whether BMC issued it. It concludes that BMC did not issue the message and that the claim is false. The review does not establish whether the message’s medical wording is accurate; its finding is about attribution to BMC. (Source: “A message purportedly from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) – Health Department is being shared on social media with their logo. The message reads – ‘There is a higher stage of corona which cannot be detected but is infected to small children till the age of 30’.”; “Fact: The BMC did not issue any such message.”)

The claim concerns Facebook posts that attributed thousands of deaths to Covid-19 vaccines and said the figures came from an EU database. The review examined a table posted on 23 March 2021, which listed 2,540 deaths for Pfizer, 972 for Moderna and 451 for AstraZeneca. It also describes other posts reporting 1,385 deaths for Pfizer as of 18 February and 4,574 deaths across three vaccines as of 21 March. The review reports that dpa checked the figures with the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
The claim concerned BioNTech co-founder Ugur Sahin and a Facebook post suggesting he would not take his company’s coronavirus vaccine. The review traces that claim to a Frontnieuws article whose headline said Sahin did not want to be vaccinated for the time being. It examines what Sahin said in an ARD Extra interview on 21 December 2020, the day the European Medicines Agency approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. Asked whether his vaccination would reassure people who were hesitant, Sahin said he was willing to be vaccinated, while stressing that he had to follow the rules on eligibility. He also said protecting employees mattered because the company needed to produce more than 1.3 billion doses over the following twelve months, and that it was seeking to arrange earlier eligibility for employees. The review therefore distinguishes willingness to be vaccinated from receiving a dose before one’s turn. The review says Sahin was waiting until officially eligible, rather than refusing vaccination. It also reports that BioNTech announced a voluntary employee vaccination program on 11 January 2021, including workers in Germany and people directly involved in vaccine production and distribution.
The claim under review was that a baby became ill with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) after the mother was vaccinated against COVID-19 and the baby received her breast milk, and that the child died shortly afterward. The review describes the claim as originating in a Facebook post. Its account identifies a key problem with the image circulated alongside it: the photo and the claim came from separate posts and were later wrongly paired. The person who made the TTP claim confirmed in comments that the pictured baby was not the baby in that claim. [S1]

The claim concerns a video circulating on Facebook that was presented as showing people who had died of COVID-19. In the footage, an orange truck carries bodies wrapped in black plastic; when the camera zooms in, one person’s head is visible and the person appears to be smoking. The review also quotes posts that framed the images as pandemic deaths. Its investigation traced the clip to a TikTok account, where the description identified it as behind-the-scenes footage of a rapper’s video shoot, rather than pandemic footage. [S1] The review identifies the rapper as Husky and the source production as his music video “Niemals,” released in September 2020. It reports that the truck and wrapped bodies also appear in that music video, and says it checked the song lyrics and verified the truck’s appearance there. Those details connect the circulating clip to a music-video production and undercut the claim that it documents coronavirus deaths. [S1] The review further identifies Vasiliy Ivanov, whose name appears in the music video’s credits, as the TikTok user who posted the short clip and as a production designer on the shoot. Taken together, the account description, the full video’s appearance and the production credit provide provenance for the footage that is inconsistent with its presentation as evidence of pandemic deaths.
The claim concerns videos and images said to show “Morgellons” parasites or nanotechnology in masks and PCR tests. The review says such posts circulated with dark or low-quality visuals in which a small thread appeared to move under a microscope. It reports that Mark Benecke, an expert in biological traces, examined a PCR test in March 2021 and identified the material as textile fibres, rather than living organisms or nanotechnology. The review explains that movement alone does not establish that a fibre is alive. Benecke said fibres can move after absorbing moisture or heat, and that electrostatic attraction can also cause movement. He described the appearance as potentially worm-like, while distinguishing that resemblance from what the material is. The review also cites France 24’s conclusion that videos presented as showing worms or nanotechnology in PCR tests were speculation. The review separately notes that Morgellons as a disease is controversial. Dermatologist Dominique Tennstedt told dpa that the supposed parasites had not been demonstrated; neurologist Anne Louise Oaklander, quoted in a Guardian interview, described patients’ symptoms as real while discussing an undiagnosed chronic itching disorder. This medical discussion is distinct from the video evidence: the review’s explanation of the moving material is that it consists of textile fibres, not parasites.
The claim comes from a Facebook post asserting that WHO advised healthy people to wear a mask only when caring for someone suspected of having COVID-19, and that masks were not recommended for the public generally. The review says it could find no trace of the post’s quoted wording on WHO’s site. It identifies WHO’s April 2020 interim guidance as the closest text, rather than evidence that WHO published those exact statements.

Publisher’s rating: De bewering is fout.
The claim uses footage of an orange truck carrying figures in black bags, including a person who appears to poke his head out and smoke, as evidence that purported COVID-19 deaths were staged. The review describes versions circulating on social media, including one captioned “supposedly these are coronavirus deaths,” and reports that the footage was being presented as evidence of a “plandemie.” The investigation identifies the footage as backstage material from a music-video shoot, rather than documentation of deaths from COVID-19. The original video was posted on TikTok by @vasyaivanovdesign; its Russian description included the terms “video shoot,” “rapper,” “Husky,” and “backstage,” and the account contained other backstage videos from the same production. The reviewer also reports verifying that the truck appears in the music video. The production was for Russian rapper Husky, whose video for “Никогда-нибудь” (“Nooit”) was published in September 2020. The review notes that the TikTok user Vasya Ivanov is credited in the video as production designer. These production details establish a non-pandemic origin for the specific truck footage and explain why the apparent bodies and smoking person are part of the staged video material, not evidence of COVID-19 deaths.
