The review examines online claims that Paul Zipser’s emergency operation was a COVID-19 vaccine side effect. It reports that the FC Bayern Munich player had a brain haemorrhage and had previously received a vaccination. The review says blogs and Facebook posts combined those facts in a way that suggested a causal link: “Diese beiden Informationen wurden daraufhin auf Blogs und in Facebook-Beiträgen vermengt - so dass der Eindruck entsteht, Zipsers medizinischer Notfall sei eine Impfnebenwirkung gewesen.” The review compares that suggestion with the account in the Frankfurter Rundschau. According to the review, Zipser’s dizziness prompted examinations, and the possibility of a rare vaccine-associated brain thrombosis was considered. But the newspaper’s reported CT scan did not find a thrombosis: it showed a dangerous haemorrhage, identified as a cavernoma. The review quotes the newspaper’s description: “Der Verdacht bestätigte sich nicht, es war noch schlimmer: Es zeigte sich auf den Bildern eine gefährliche Blutung.” It explains that the suspected vaccine-related condition was the reason for the examination, not the diagnosis that examination produced. For the decisive connection, the review reports that Bayern Munich confirmed in response to a request from the dpa that the haemorrhage and operation were not related to vaccination: “Zipsers Verein Bayern München bestätigte auf Anfrage der Deutschen Presse-Agentur (dpa), dass die Blutung und die Operation definitiv nicht mit der Impfung zusammenhängen.” The review also addresses Eriksen separately: it says he collapsed during the European Championship match against Finland and was reanimated, but his club said he had not been vaccinated against COVID-19. Thus the Eriksen episode does not provide evidence for the claim about Zipser.

The post claimed that 14,786 people died as a result of COVID-19 vaccination in Europe and illustrated the figure with a table of deaths by vaccine. The review traces the table’s figures to the European database of suspected adverse-reaction reports: 7,054 for Pfizer/BioNTech, 4,050 for Moderna, 3,182 for AstraZeneca, and 500 for Johnson & Johnson. Those figures add up to 14,786, but they were produced by adding fatal outcomes across reaction groups, not by establishing a count of deaths caused by vaccination. The review describes how the figures were obtained: selecting each of the four EU-approved vaccines in the database, then adding the numbers under “fatal outcome” for each reaction group. The underlying data were available through 12 June 2021. The European Medicines Agency (EMA), which created the database, cautioned that one individual report can include multiple suspected reactions assigned to different groups. Adding group totals can therefore count reports more than once and cannot provide a total number of fatal cases. The database concerns suspected side effects, which are not necessarily connected to or caused by the medicine; the EMA said that only detailed scientific assessment of all available data can support conclusions about a medicine’s benefits and risks. Thus, the table’s sum of reports does not establish 14,786 vaccine-caused deaths.

The post examined by the review claimed that Eriksen had been vaccinated with the Biontech/Pfizer vaccine on 31 May. It also suggested that vaccination might explain his collapse during the European Championship. The review distinguishes these two claims: it reports no verifiable evidence connecting the collapse to vaccination, and gives direct statements contradicting the specific assertion that Eriksen had been vaccinated. For the vaccination claim, the review cites Inter Milan manager Giuseppe Marotta, who told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport that Eriksen had neither had Covid-19 nor been vaccinated. It also reports that Tim Meyer, identified as Germany’s national-team doctor and chair of UEFA’s medical commission, said the information available to him gave no indication that either Covid-19 or vaccination had affected Eriksen’s health. These statements address both the claimed vaccination and the proposed connection to the collapse. The review places the claim in the context of Eriksen’s collapse during Denmark’s match against Finland on 12 June 2021: he was resuscitated and taken to hospital. It describes the evidence it presents as statements from Marotta and Meyer, rather than as medical records or an independent examination of Eriksen’s vaccination history.

The claim arose from a Ninefornews.nl article that used graphs to suggest ivermectin had made COVID-19 figures fall in Mexico City. The dpa review says the graphs show a temporary decline, but that pattern alone cannot establish that treatment caused it: an epidemic curve can decline naturally after a wave peaks. Virologist Steven Van Gucht explained that the fall could have happened without ivermectin, and said the displayed results do not allow a conclusion about the drug’s effect. The review also points to important context omitted from the article. Mexico experienced a third, much more severe wave after the decline shown in the graphs. The review says that this later wave followed the start of ivermectin use, undermining the impression that the figures kept falling because of the drug. It further notes that the graphs in social-media posts dated from January 26, 2021, while the Ninefornews article appeared after that; the article did not mention the third wave. The review describes other changes occurring around the same period: restrictions in Mexico were tightened on December 15, including earlier closing times for non-essential businesses and restaurants, and advice to stay home and wear masks. Those simultaneous measures are additional context, not proof of what caused any particular change in cases. The review concludes that the graphs do not establish a beneficial treatment effect and says the WHO and EMA considered the evidence insufficient.

The review addresses social-media claims linking Christian Eriksen’s collapse during the European Championship to a Covid vaccination. It also examines the related assertion that all players at the tournament had been vaccinated. Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s match against Finland on June 12, 2021, and had to be resuscitated; the article says he was in hospital in Copenhagen. It reports that the posts offered no verifiable evidence that vaccination caused his collapse. For Eriksen’s vaccination status, the article cites statements from Inter Milan manager Giuseppe Marotta and team doctor Piero Volpi. Marotta told the Italian broadcaster Sky Sport that Eriksen had neither had Covid-19 nor been vaccinated. The review says Volpi also told The Associated Press that Eriksen had not had a coronavirus illness. Separately, Tim Meyer, Germany’s national-team doctor and chair of UEFA’s medical committee, said the information available to him gave no indication that either Covid illness or vaccination had affected Eriksen’s health. The review also rejects the blanket claim that all tournament players were vaccinated. It points to Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand’s criticism of UEFA for not arranging vaccination for all teams. The article therefore distinguishes the specific evidence about Eriksen from the broader assertion about tournament-wide vaccination; it does not present the posts’ suggested causal link as established.
