FACTLY examined a viral video in which PM Modi appeared to tell viewers to vote for Congress to ensure their children’s well-being. The review says the clip was from a public meeting in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and compared it with the original video on Modi’s official YouTube channel. In that original clip, Modi says, “If you want to ensure the well-being of your children, vote for BJP.” He then adds, “If you want the Gandhi family to succeed, vote for Congress.” Those surrounding remarks provide the context missing from the viral edit: the Congress reference was not an endorsement, but part of a contrast with the BJP. FACTLY reports comparing the viral clip’s audio with the original and finding that the words “vote for BJP” had been altered to “vote for Congress.” The review’s conclusion rests on that comparison and the contrasting statements in the original video: the viral version changes the party named in the voting appeal.
