The post at issue listed 19 companies and claimed that they were Israeli, urging people to boycott their products in support of Palestine. The investigation checked the companies named in the post, focusing on where they were founded and, in some cases, on their histories and headquarters. It concluded that the post’s central factual premise was wrong: the companies examined were not founded in Israel, so the list did not identify Israeli products on that basis. The examples in the article span several countries. It says KFC began in Kentucky in the United States; Adidas began in Bavaria, Germany; Gucci was established in Florence, Italy; KitKat was established in York in the United Kingdom; and Nestlé’s headquarters are in Vevey, Switzerland. It also describes Nike as founded in the United States and Red Bull as founded in Thailand, with its headquarters in Austria. These examples support the article’s distinction between companies’ actual origins and the post’s claim that they were Israeli. The article reports that it consulted company histories and other information, including Nike material on Britannica, and says that none of the companies named in the post was founded in Israel. Its investigation addresses the claim about the companies’ origins; it does not establish from the excerpt whether any company has other business connections with Israel or assess the separate, normative question of whether consumers should boycott a product.

The claim concerned a website using the name Gramin Udyamita Vikas Nigam that said it was connected to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and advertised government jobs. The review describes advertisements claiming more than 200,000 vacancies, with applicants asked to pay a non-refundable registration fee of ₹435. It also lists advertised posts in Rajasthan and vacancies said to be available in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The review checked whether the advertised webpage was connected to the Ministry’s official website. It reports that the page did not link back to the government homepage or an official government website, and that it lacked the Indian government emblem, which the review says official government websites display. On that basis, it concluded that guvn.co.in was not an official website of the Ministry. The review also cites a Press Information Bureau fact-check and statement identifying the website as fake and saying it had no connection to either the Ministry or Gramin Udyamita Vikas Nigam. The PIB said it would act against the site with the Cyber Crime unit and Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, and that the site would be blocked and its owner face action. The evidence described in the review therefore contradicts both the claimed government affiliation and the presentation of the advertised vacancies as government jobs.
