Publisher’s rating: Altered

The Facebook post claimed that Stray Kids would perform in Cambodia in the near future. Fact Crescendo Cambodia reports that the post was shared by Khmer-speaking users and attracted mixed reactions. Its investigation focused on whether the poster actually announced a Cambodian concert: “one of the Facebook users recently posted a leaflet or poster claiming that Korean boy band, Stray Kids, will be in Cambodia in the near future.” The review says it used Google Reverse Image Search to trace the image. That search led to an exact match on Stray Kids’ official Facebook page, where the poster had been posted on October 10, 2022. The original poster described a concert in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 2–3, 2023—not a Cambodia date. The review states that the image circulating in Cambodia had been altered, and that the original poster gave no indication of plans to perform in Cambodia. The distinction is therefore between the location stated on the original concert poster and the Cambodian location suggested by the circulating version. The review concludes that Stray Kids were scheduled to perform in Bangkok on those dates and that the claim they were coming to Cambodia was false.

Melania Trump est la petite-fille d'Anastasia Romanov.

Publisher’s rating: Melania Trump n’est pas la petite-fille d’Anastasia Romanov. Anastasia Romanov est décédée avec le reste de sa famille le 17 juillet 1918.

The claim reviewed is that Melania Trump is Anastasia Romanov’s granddaughter. The review traces it to social-media posts asserting a family link and a photo collage; it notes that the collage actually compares Melania with Maria Romanov, Anastasia’s sister. That mismatch matters because the image is presented as support for a claim about Anastasia, but it depicts a comparison with a different Romanov sister. The review gives the family-history evidence relevant to whether Anastasia could have been Melania’s grandmother. It reports that Anastasia was killed with her parents and siblings on 17 July 1918, aged 17, and that she was unmarried. It adds that no document records a child of Anastasia’s; the proposed relationship would therefore depend on her having survived the execution. The review also checks the claim against the dates and reported identities of Melania’s family. It says her parents were born in 1944 and 1945, long after Anastasia’s death, and names her maternal grandmother as Amalia Ulčnik (née Gliha); it gives Antonija Ribi as the reported name of her paternal grandmother. Together with the account of Anastasia’s death and the absence of a documented child, these details do not support the claimed grandmother-granddaughter relationship.

Photo of Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Kiran Rao walking alone on a street after her divorce

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The claim concerns a photo of Kiran Rao walking alone on a street, presented as a recent image taken after her divorce from Aamir Khan. FACTLY reports that it checked the viral image with a reverse image search and found the same photo in an earlier article by Bollywood Tadka. That article, FACTLY says, featured the photo on 22 September 2019 and described Rao walking alone; other photos of her from that time were also included. The timing is decisive: FACTLY reports that Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their divorce in July 2021. The photo’s earlier appearance in 2019 therefore places it well before the divorce announcement, rather than after it as the post claimed. The review identifies the location as the streets of Bandra, Mumbai, and concludes that an old image was being shared as a recent one following the divorce.

Video of Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor slapping RJ Arpit during an interview

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

FACTLY investigated a video presented as showing Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor slapping radio jockey RJ Arpit during an interview. The review says the footage came from a 2016 interview at the Radio Mirchi studio, filmed during promotions for the movie *Ki and Ka*; it identifies the slap as part of an April Fool’s prank. [S1: “This video from 2016 was filmed during the promotions of the Bollywood movie Ki and Ka. Arjun Kapoor slapping RJ Arpit in Radio Mirchi studio was an April Fool’s prank, pulled off during this interview.”] To trace the footage, the review reports finding two videos on the Mirchi Plus YouTube channel. It says the first, titled “Shocking!!! Arjun Kapoor slaps Radio Mirchi RJ,” showed Kapoor slapping Arpit after a question, then pushing the RJ and the cameraman’s camera. The review reports that this video was uploaded on 28 March 2016. [S1: “Searching the internet with relevant keywords led us to two videos uploaded on the ‘Mirchi Plus’ YouTube channel. Radio Mirchi RJ Arpit interviewed Arjun Kapoor on the occasion of his film Ki & Ka’s release. In the first video (watch here), titled ‘Shocking!!! Arjun Kapoor slaps Radio Mirchi RJ’ Arjun Kapoor slaps RJ Arpit on a question and says, ‘what kind of a question is this? Switch off the camera…’ and he is seen pushing the RJ and the camera from the cameraman’s hand. This video was uploaded on 28 March 2016”] The second Mirchi Plus video, uploaded the following day, disclosed the prank explanation. This follow-up is the key context that changes how the apparent slap in the first video should be understood: the footage depicts a staged prank, not the incident portrayed by the viral post as a genuine assault. [S1: “Mirchi plus uploaded another video (watch here) on 29 March 2016 titled ‘ REVEALED | Why did Arjun Kapoor Slap Mirchi RJ Arpit?’ In this video, it was revealed that the slap was part of an April Fool’s prank.”]

Publisher’s rating: False

The claim concerned a Facebook post shared on September 22, 2022, showing Hong Kong actor Li Taohua, also known as Andy Lau, with “R.I.P” and implying that he had died. Fact Crescendo Cambodia says the post circulated among Khmer-speaking Facebook users and drew mixed reactions. The review identifies the post and its message as the subject of its investigation, rather than discussing a separate death report.

Ananya Dagar recently married Nawabzada Haider Ali Khan and converted herself into ‘Shaukat Zamani Begum’

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The claim combines two points: that Ananya Dagar married Haider Ali Khan, also identified in the review as Hamza Mian, and that the marriage happened recently. The review says the marriage did take place, but dates it to December 2020. On that chronology, it rejects the claim’s description of the marriage as recent; it does not say the marriage itself was fabricated. To check the photo circulating with the claim, the review says it used Google Reverse Image search and found similar photos. It reports that a journalist had posted the same photo in December 2020, describing Dagar’s marriage to Hamza Mian and her adoption of the name ‘Shaukat Zamani Begum’. The review also says news agencies reported the marriage in 2020 and that additional wedding visuals from that year were available. The review notes a qualification about the conversion and name claim: although news agencies reported that Dagar converted and became ‘Shaukat Zamani Begum’, Haider Ali Khan’s 2022 election affidavit listed his wife’s name as ‘Ananya Dagar’. Thus, the review’s evidence supports the 2020 marriage chronology while presenting the conversion/name detail as reported by news agencies and contrasting it with the affidavit’s recorded name.
