The review examined a Facebook image presented as showing Cambodian political analyst Seng Sary under arrest, with a caption alleging that the arrest had become viral in Thailand. It found that the image did not depict Seng Sary. The review reports using a Google reverse-image search, which led to the same photograph on Alamy and to a China Daily report identifying the person shown as American drug suspect Joseph Hunter, escorted by Thai police at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok on September 27, 2013. The image therefore links to a different person and event, not an arrest of Seng Sary. The review also states that Seng Sary had not been arrested. It reports that Hun Sen called on the court to stop the arrest warrant on September 20, 2021, and that the Phnom Penh Municipal Court issued an order stopping it on September 21. Those developments concern a warrant and its suspension; they do not establish that Seng Sary was arrested. The review’s image comparison and the identified 2013 photograph directly address the central claim about who appears in the social-media image. Its account of the warrant and the court’s subsequent order supplies context for why Seng Sary was being discussed, while distinguishing that legal development from the separate claim that he had been arrested.

The claim concerned a social-media post showing an elderly man leaving prison and alleging that he had spent seven years imprisoned because he could not pay a Rs. 2,500 fine for travelling by train without a ticket. The review examined both the image and the alleged punishment. It reports that photographer Krishan Kariyawasam identified the image as one he took at Welikada Prison on 4 February 2015, when prisoners released under a presidential pardon were leaving. The post’s image therefore did not establish the story attached to it.

The video shows a forceful arrest, but the review’s investigation identifies the woman as a protester, not a shopper arrested for lacking a health pass. The incident took place on 4 September 2021 at Forum des Halles, a largely underground shopping centre in central Paris. A Facebook post described the footage as showing a woman shopping without a pass; the review says the video itself was first shared by French journalist Amar Taoualit. The review places the arrest within a demonstration against the health pass. It reports that about a hundred demonstrators split from the main group, which was heading toward Place de la Bastille, and entered the underground part of the shopping centre. The woman in the arrest footage was among them. The review identifies her across videos by her blue shirt, grey backpack and mirrored sunglasses, and says another video shows her holding a protest banner with two other women. The review describes comparing several videos to reconstruct what happened. It reports that the situation escalated and that another clip shows officers carrying the woman out of the centre. A Paris police prefecture spokesperson said the demonstrators had taken a route that had not been agreed in advance and that officers acted after an alleged attack on a security guard; the review also reports that objects were thrown at officers. Three people were arrested, including the woman. Thus, the footage is of a real arrest, but its shopping-without-a-pass caption omits the protest setting documented by the review.

The review says the image showed people being taken by police for punishment in Wenzhou, China, and that 11 people among them had been sentenced to death—not 26 politicians.
