Visuals of dead Palestinians, who are victims of the ongoing conflict with Israeli forces in Gaza in 2023

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The review addresses two videos presented as showing Palestinians killed in the ongoing conflict with Israeli forces in Gaza in 2023. It concludes that neither depicts actual Palestinian victims of that conflict: one is footage from a Bali religious ritual in October 2022, and the other shows a Tehran art installation. The review therefore finds that the visuals were inaccurately linked to the conflict. For the first video, the review says reverse image searches of screenshots led it to a news report identifying the footage as a ritual in Tabanan Regency, Bali. It describes 108 people simulating lifeless figures as part of the religious play Calonarang, dedicated to the Hindu deity Dewi Durga. The reported event took place in October 2022, before the conflict to which the video was attributed. For the second video, the review identifies the apparent bodies as simulated shrouded figures in an art installation at Palestine Square in Tehran, Iran—not actual deceased people. It says the installation, titled “Symphony of the Killed,” was performed with live music on 13 November 2023 to express solidarity with children killed in Gaza. The review reports using reverse image searches to locate reports of the installation. Thus, the footage’s original settings and the installation’s stated purpose do not support presenting either video as visuals of Palestinians killed in the claimed conflict.

“دعاية فلسطينية زائفة كالعادة.. الصورة الثانية من إحدى الدول الإفريقية.. يمكنك أن ترى بوضوح الشعب الأفريقي وهو يدفن شعوبه”.

Fake Palestinian propaganda as always.. The second picture is from on of the African countries. You can clearly see the African people burying their people.

Publisher’s rating: Misleading, The image is from Gaza, documented on 22/11/2023, depicting a mass grave established in Khan Yunis to bury martyrs abducted by the occupation from northern Gaza. This is corroborated by other photos and videos documented by journalists in Gaza, including Al Jazeera correspondent Wael AL Dahdouh, and the Palestinian news agency “Wafa.

The claim concerns a video presented as showing a recent Israeli army bombing of a mosque in the Gaza Strip. DPA’s investigation found that the footage was not from the recent conflict: it had already appeared online in January 2016. A reverse image search of a screenshot led investigators to an X post dated January 12, 2016, and a YouTube upload dated January 19, 2016. The description accompanying the older video said it showed the Israeli army bombing a mosque in Gaza. That older online provenance contradicts the claim that this footage documents a recent destruction. It does not, however, establish exactly where the mosque stood or when it was destroyed. DPA says it could not conclusively determine either detail, so the evidence supports dating the video as old without resolving the precise circumstances shown. The review also notes that the video was recirculated on X during the current escalation, creating the misleading impression that it showed a new event.
