The photo was presented online as evidence that events involving Palestinians in Gaza were staged, with captions calling it “the latest news from Pallywood” and “the film set of Gaza.” The investigation instead identifies the image as a still from the Malaysian comedy Laksa di Ambang Wati, released in 2018. That provenance means the image does not depict the current Gaza situation described in the posts. To trace the image, the review says it used reverse image search. That led first to a Malaysian website article from 2019, which already placed the image online before the current Israel-Hamas conflict. The image also appeared in a PewDiePie video, where he scrolled through a Reddit page; the review reports that the photo had been posted there on 19 June 2019 with a joking caption about soap operas. A separate Malaysian article from 2018 identified the film, and its director, Al Jafree Md Yusop, had described the scene as a parody of Malaysian dramas. The medical equipment’s apparent placement may look implausible, but that alone does not establish that the image is footage of a staged event in Gaza. The review’s tracing of the image to a pre-existing film scene provides the relevant context for rejecting that interpretation.

Oktober.

The claim concerns a circulating helicopter video said to show Israeli forces firing on people fleeing the Supernova music festival on 7 October. The review traces the clip to a longer video posted on 9 October by an Israeli military account on X. The longer video shows aerial attacks at several locations in Gaza; the disputed sequence appears at its end and consists of several short shots of people and vehicles being fired on in open areas. To locate the footage, the investigation compared two sequences with satellite images. It placed them just metres from the Israel–Gaza border fence, on both sides of it. The reported filming area was about ten kilometres from the festival site, and the review says festival-goers were highly unlikely to have fled that far. It also notes that videos from the festival show people fleeing east, away from Gaza. These details do not support identifying the people in the helicopter footage as fleeing festival visitors. The review does not establish exactly who was hit: it says the video alone does not make their identities clear and allows that hostages could have been among them. It separately reports that Haaretz, citing an anonymous police source, said a helicopter apparently hit some festival visitors at the festival site. That separate reporting does not establish that the viral border-area video shows those visitors, so it should not be treated as confirmation of the video’s claimed setting.

Israeli soldiers raising the Israeli national flag above the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza

Publisher’s rating: Misleading

The review investigated a social-media video captioned as showing Israeli soldiers raising Israel’s flag on top of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. The post also made broader accusations about the hospital and its staff, but the location of the flag-raising video was the specific point checked. The review reports that the post had been viewed more than 300,000 times and shared across platforms, including TikTok. To check where the footage was filmed, the review cites French journalist Arthur Carpentier, who compared features visible in the video with satellite imagery in Google Maps. His identification was that the building was Gaza Preliminary School for Boys, not Al-Shifa Hospital. The review places the school approximately 400 meters from the hospital. It further says the location identification was verified by GeoConfirmed, an organization described as specializing in verifying the locations of images and videos online. The resulting distinction is between footage of soldiers raising a flag at a nearby school and the post’s claim that the footage shows them doing so above Al-Shifa Hospital. The review’s conclusion addresses that location attribution; it does not, on the evidence provided here, establish the broader accusations in the social-media caption about what happened to patients, staff, or families at the hospital.
