The claim uses the video of a child being carried on a stretcher, then standing up and walking away, to suggest that a Palestinian child had faked being killed by Israeli fire and that Palestinian suffering is staged. The investigation reports that the footage appeared on Twitter in March 2020. It also describes how ae.24, a news site from the United Arab Emirates, attributed the filming to Jordan during the first COVID-19 lockdown. In that account, a group of young people staged a funeral to evade lockdown rules—not to portray a Palestinian victim of Israeli violence. The review therefore finds no connection between this clip and the current Gaza conflict. It quotes the website’s description that the fund accepts donations for battle-casualty families from the Army, Navy and Air Force, and that donations are used to provide financial assistance to casualties, their next of kin and dependents. The review notes that the website description does not identify purchasing equipment as a use of the donations. The review also reports a clarification from the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information. The Army said reports that donations to the fund would purchase weapons and equipment were untrue, and that the fund was being used solely for the welfare of battle casualties and their next of kin.
