How the answers frame Shipt
This snapshot, measured 29 September 2026, covers 250 benchmark questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, 1,250 answers in all. Shipt was named in 70 of them. Grok named it most (22 of 250 answers) and Claude least (6 of 250).
Shipt's visibility was highest on the driver pay and earnings questions (19%) and the employer questions (10%), and next on the 'avoid' questions (9%). It was 0% on leadership questions and 1% on subscriptions and promotions. In the sample of five answers, the recurring context was labor.
Perplexity, asked which gig platforms have the worst reputation among drivers, wrote: "drivers criticize Uber’s pay transparency and deactivation appeals, while a Human Rights Watch report says Shipt’s ratings system has a particularly direct effect on workers’ ability to earn a living." Gemini, asked about environmental and labor practices, grouped Shipt with Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats as platforms relying on independent contractors. It said of those workers: "These workers often lack benefits like health insurance, paid sick leave, and job security."
In the other sampled answers Shipt was a supporting name. ChatGPT listed it among subscriptions it compared for cancellation and refunds, but said it had verified policies only for Uber and DoorDash. Grok put Shipt under 'other notable options' in a fresh-grocery answer, where the text shown begins a note on in-store pricing before it cuts off. Grok also named it in an alcohol and pharmacy delivery answer that led with Minibar and Gopuff.
The credit tags on the brand's mentions were thin: 'Not Substantive' twice, and 'Labour & Workplace' and 'Price & Value' once each.

What the press is saying
The PeakMetrics news index shows 726 mentions of Shipt over the last 30 days, 123 with the brand in the headline. The recent headlines shown are mostly repeated '/C O R R E C T I O N -- Shipt/' items on local syndication sites. The other is an announcement of a year-long partnership between Shipt and the Congressional Hunger Center to address the root causes of hunger.
In this window the press story is corporate announcements and their corrections. It is not a story about worker treatment, ratings systems or pay.
These workers often lack benefits like health insurance, paid sick leave, and job security.
The gap
The two stories barely overlap. The recent headlines center on a hunger-focused partnership and correction notices. The answers that named Shipt in this snapshot put it in conversations about gig workers, pay and ratings, or in a list of alternatives.
Press volume also does not map neatly to answer visibility. Shipt's 726 news mentions sit far below Uber's 39,208, and Uber was named in 1,069 of the 1,250 answers against Shipt's 70. Even so, in the answers that did name Shipt, the frame came from sources the assistants cited, such as the Human Rights Watch report Perplexity referenced. It did not come from Shipt's recent announcements.
What to watch
A comms team would start with the labor-related questions, where Shipt appears most often. The question is which sources the assistants draw on there, and whether Shipt's own material, including the hunger partnership, appears among them.
Watch the provider differences too. Grok and ChatGPT named Shipt far more often than Claude did. Live answers vary between runs, so treat this as a single snapshot to compare against repeat benchmark runs, not as a ranking or a trend.
