How the answers frame Samsung
This snapshot, measured on 2026-09-29, covers 250 benchmark questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, none of which named a brand. Samsung was named in 185 of 1,250 answers. Grok named it most often (57 of 250) and Perplexity least (20 of 250). Google appeared in 813 answers and Apple in 566, so Samsung sits in the middle of the sector pack.
Where Samsung appears, it usually sits alongside Apple and Google as a named alternative. In Claude's answer on tablets for a 72-year-old, Apple led as the top pick for seniors, and Samsung's Galaxy Tab A9+ was offered as a more affordable option. ChatGPT's answer on budget phones under $300 named Motorola and Samsung as the safest brands, with the Galaxy A17 5G and A26 5G described as the usual budget pick for people who care about software support.
In the smart home answer, Claude gave Samsung SmartThings its own entry and said it excels for people with mixed wireless protocol devices. Amazon Alexa was called the best choice for most users. In Grok's answer on in-person support, Apple led and Samsung was called a strong runner-up, with Samsung Experience Stores and Samsung Care named. The same answer said its in-person experience was generally seen as less premium or consistent than Apple's.
Some mentions are thin. Claude's answer on launches credited Samsung with the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Project Moohan. Claude's answer on companies with a phone number listed a Samsung number in a run of ten companies. ChatGPT's laptop answer said Samsung is less ideal for iPhone compatibility.
Visibility varied by question intent in this snapshot. Reliability (32%) and innovation (31%) were the strongest, followed by ecosystem compatibility (25%) and service (24%). Employer (1%), AI responsibility (4%) and avoid (5%) were the weakest. The themes recorded for Samsung were few and mostly labeled not substantive.
Samsung SmartThings** excels for those with mixed wireless protocol devices…
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index recorded 67,356 mentions of Samsung in the last 30 days, and 12,307 of them had the brand in the headline. That is heavy coverage. It is close to Apple's 65,278 and well above Meta's 62,537 on volume, and far below Google's 700,366.
The recent headlines are varied. They include a Google feature rolling out to Pixel and Samsung phones, a report about a Galaxy Fold purchase attributed to 'Tim Cook', a controversy over a Galaxy S26 FE said to be nearly the same technology as the S25 FE, a piece on Galaxy automation features, and a Samsung Lions baseball result.
The gap
Press volume and AI visibility diverge here. Samsung's news volume is close to Apple's, yet Apple was named in about three times as many answers. TikTok had more news mentions (223,981) than Samsung and was named in roughly half as many answers.
The stories differ too. The press stories in this window mix product news, a launch controversy and unrelated sports items. The answers place Samsung in a narrower role: a mainstream Android choice for budget phones, tablets, smart home compatibility and long software support. The answers did not carry the launch controversy in the headlines. Grok's answers on longevity and update policy do sit closest to the reliability theme where Samsung's visibility was strongest.
What to watch
A comms team would read this as a snapshot of one run of live answers, not a ranking. Two points stand out. First, Samsung is often present but in a supporting role, so the question is which categories it leads and which it only fills out. Second, categories such as leadership, sustainability, privacy and AI responsibility showed low visibility, so few answers connected Samsung to those topics.
The cited-domain data is also worth tracking. Grok's answers pointed to outlets like PCMag and BGR, and ChatGPT's budget phone answer pointed to Android Authority. Those review outlets shape how Samsung is described. Repeating the benchmark questions over time would show whether the pattern holds.
