How the answers frame Pfizer
In this snapshot, taken 2026-09-28 across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, Pfizer was named in 15 of 25 answers to category questions that never mentioned a brand. That put it ahead of Johnson & Johnson and Merck, which were each named in 13. The framing depended on the question.
On pricing and litigation, every assistant in the supplied answers named Pfizer. ChatGPT said congressional reporting had singled out Pfizer for aggressive U.S. price increases. Perplexity cited a survey ranking that placed Pfizer last among 22 pharma companies. Claude pointed to the Eliquis price path from $250 a month in 2013 to $529 by 2022. On litigation, Perplexity said Pfizer had the most federal settlements from 1991 to 2021, and Gemini cited a $2.3 billion settlement in 2009 over drug promotion.
On trust, Claude cited a survey in which Pfizer scored 57 and landed in a "Low" tier. Gemini listed Pfizer among companies noted in rankings tied to reputation. On patient access, ChatGPT and Grok both placed Pfizer fourth in the 2024 Access to Medicine Index. Grok also cited its RxPathways assistance program.
The credit tags on these answers were mixed. Price & Value came up five times and Safety & Compliance four. Four mentions were tagged Not Substantive, and Customer Experience appeared once.

What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index recorded 18,663 mentions of Pfizer in the last 30 days, 3,360 of them with the brand in the headline. That is heavy coverage, in the same range as Merck (20,326) and Eli Lilly (19,280).
The five recent headlines supplied lean toward markets and deal news. Two are earnings-growth comparisons against Royalty Pharma and Merck. One covers a possible review of 340B chargeback and eligibility protocols after a court outcome. One reports Novartis India buying Minipress brands from Pfizer. One is a critical piece on a Pfizer report from a fringe site. Most of these come from a single financial-commentary outlet.

The gap
The press sample is about earnings, portfolio moves and drug-pricing program rules. The answers are about reputation. When the assistants were asked who has the worst pricing record, who has faced the most litigation and who is most trusted, Pfizer appeared as a reference point. The historical material behind those answers, such as settlements, survey rankings and price-increase histories, was absent from the headlines supplied.
Volume of coverage does not track appearance in answers. Eli Lilly has news volume close to Pfizer's but was named in 6 of 25 answers. Moderna has 10,024 mentions and was named in none. The reverse also shows: Pfizer's presence in answers comes from category questions about reputation, not from how much the press wrote about it this month.
What to watch
A comms team would take three points from this single snapshot. First, on pricing and litigation questions, the assistants reached for Pfizer as a standard example, and several answers rested on older survey rankings and settlement records. Second, the access-program story appeared in ChatGPT and Grok, so it exists in the answers but was not the dominant frame. Third, the sources behind the answers, such as the Access to Medicine Index, Gallup and congressional documents, are cited domains worth mapping, because current press coverage is not what shapes these answers.
These are single runs from two of the assistants' answer sets and could look different on another day. The useful step is to repeat these benchmark questions and check which cited domains keep feeding the pricing and litigation framing.
