How the answers frame Olay
In this snapshot from 2026-09-29, Olay appeared in 46 of 1,250 answers. That comes from 250 benchmark questions put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, none of which named a brand. The spread by assistant was uneven: Grok named Olay in 22 answers, Gemini in 11, Perplexity in 7, ChatGPT in 5 and Claude in 1.
In the five stored answers we were given, Olay mostly appears as an item in a list. Claude's answer on entry-level skincare marketing jobs listed "Procter & Gamble (Olay, SK-II)". Gemini's answer on the biggest beauty companies by revenue named Olay as one of the brands P&G manages, not as a company in its own right. The credit tags say the same thing. Four of Olay's credits were marked "Not Substantive" and one was "Price & Value".
Perplexity gave Olay its most specific framing. On trust, it said a category-based survey named Olay for facial moisturizer and anti-aging skincare. On value, it put Olay Regenerist alongside CeraVe and Nivea as a pricier step up that stays below $30 in some listings. Grok's answer on forehead lines is Olay's only appearance in a product-efficacy question in this sample. It centered on retinoids as an ingredient, with Olay among the brands named.
By intent, visibility was highest on leadership questions at 14%. It was 6% on reliability, value and product efficacy, and 4% on trust. It was 0% on service, safety and shopping experience.
Olay Regenerist offers a more treatment-focused cream for under $30.
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index shows 1,502 mentions of Olay over the last 30 days, 183 of them with the brand in the headline. The recent headlines are product and award stories. They cover a revamped Repair Serum Body Wash collection, the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream winning a 2026 Allure Best of Beauty Award, and an expanded Retinol collection with a new Starter Night Repairing Lotion.
One recent headline concerns Olay Furniture, a dining chair manufacturer. Name collisions like this can inflate mention counts.

The gap
Olay's news volume is larger than that of several peers that the assistants named more often. Its 1,502 mentions compare with 861 for CeraVe, 948 for Neutrogena and 761 for Maybelline. Those three appeared in 165, 92 and 81 answers respectively, against Olay's 46. Sephora, Ulta Beauty and L'Oréal each appeared in about 300 answers or more.
The press story is about launches, awards and retinol. In this sample, the answers rarely carried it. Olay's product news did not show up as an assistant-facing narrative, and most of its mentions were parent-brand context or one entry in a shortlist. Press coverage and AI visibility measure different things, and this snapshot shows them diverging for Olay.
What to watch
For a comms team, the first question is whether the award and retinol stories reach the sources the assistants draw on. This snapshot cannot say. Grok's forehead-lines answer cited clinical and dermatology sources, so ingredient-evidence content may matter more than award news for efficacy questions.
Watch the split between assistants. Grok and Gemini named Olay far more often than Claude or ChatGPT did, so one summary figure hides large differences in how each assistant treats the brand.
Treat this as one dated snapshot. Live answers vary between runs, and the five stored answers are a sample of the 46 that named Olay.
