How the answers frame Moderna
They don't. In this snapshot, measured 2026-09-28, Moderna was named in none of the 25 answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok. The answers covered five questions: which pharma companies are most trusted, which drug makers have the worst pricing reputation, which healthcare companies are most committed to patient access, which pharma companies have faced the most litigation, and which health insurers treat patients best. Moderna was credited for nothing.
Other names filled the space. Pfizer appeared in 15 answers, Johnson & Johnson and Merck in 13 each, AbbVie in 8, Eli Lilly in 6 and UnitedHealth Group in 4. Trust answers leaned on outside measures such as Gallup, Caliber, PatientView and the Bowen Craggs Index, and often named Novartis, Roche and GSK. Patient-access answers leaned on the Access to Medicine Index. Pricing and litigation answers centered on Turing, Valeant, Purdue and GSK alongside Pfizer and J&J.
Several answers stressed that the category has no clean ranking. Moderna did not appear in any of the reputation, pricing, access or litigation stories, whether favorable or unfavorable.
There is no single universal ranking of the “most trusted” pharmaceutical companies…
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index recorded 10,024 mentions of Moderna over the last 30 days, and 1,676 of them had the company in the headline. Recent headlines are mostly about markets and pipeline: the stock more than doubling in a month, a jump among Cantor Fitzgerald holdings, an analyst dispute over a China drug lead while Moderna awaits cancer data, a new facility in Melbourne, and conference appearances in September 2026.
That is a substantial volume of coverage. It is more than UnitedHealth Group (6,182 mentions) and CVS Health (5,895), and in the same range as AbbVie (11,036).
There isn’t a single universally accepted list of the “worst” drug makers on pricing…
The gap
The press story is about a company in motion, with investors, data readouts and manufacturing at the center. The AI story on these five questions is about legacy reputations, pricing scandals, access rankings and legal settlements, and Moderna has no place in it.
News volume does not line up with naming in this snapshot. Moderna's coverage exceeds that of UnitedHealth Group, which was named in 4 answers, and CVS Health, which was named in none. Eli Lilly and Merck have far more coverage than Moderna and were named in 6 and 13 answers. The sample is small and covers only these five questions, so it shows the pattern, not its cause.
What to watch
A comms team here should treat this as a baseline for category questions that don't name the company. The answers drew on third-party indices and survey sources such as Gallup, Caliber, PatientView and the Access to Medicine Index, so the question is whether Moderna appears in those source sets at all.
Financial and pipeline headlines did not carry into these answers. Reputation, access and trust content is what the assistants appeared to reach for. This is a single snapshot, and live answers vary between runs, so re-run these benchmark questions before drawing conclusions.
