How the answers frame Elevance Health
This snapshot (measured 2026-09-29) covers 250 category questions put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, none naming a brand. Elevance Health was named in 64 of 1,250 answers. Grok accounted for 29 of the 250 answers it returned, while Claude named the company in 7 of its 250. Among 15 healthcare and pharma peers in this data, only Gilead Sciences and Moderna were named less often. Johnson & Johnson, UnitedHealth Group and CVS Health each appeared in more than 170 answers.
The six stored answers show the pattern. Elevance was one name in a group in most of them. In the prior authorization answers, Claude and Perplexity listed it among insurers that had committed to reforms. Perplexity's answer placed UnitedHealthcare and Aetna first for demonstrated deployment and set Elevance in a group noted for stated commitments. In a Gemini answer on policy influence, it sat with other payers under a UnitedHealth Group headline entry. In a Grok answer on whistleblower lawsuits and another on insurance for a child with a rare disease, it was again one of several names.
One answer tied it to a specific event. Gemini's list of the largest health insurer data breaches included an entry for Anthem, Inc. with a 2015 date, which the data maps to Elevance Health. The answer put UnitedHealth Group's Change Healthcare first.
The data tags the credit for Elevance in these answers as "Not Substantive" (6). In these answers the company was named without being credited for a distinct attribute. By question intent, visibility was highest on coverage and access and near zero on clinical outcomes, reliability and value.
…dozens of plans under large insurers such as CVS Health, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana, Elevance Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield committed to a series of actions…
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index logged 3,248 mentions of Elevance Health over the past 30 days, 566 of them with the brand in the headline. That is the smallest volume among the 15 companies in this peer set. The next lowest, CVS Health, had 6,043.
The recent headlines are mostly investor-facing. They cover an executive vice president selling shares to cover taxes on restricted stock vesting, institutional funds adding to holdings in $ELV, and a piece arguing the stock "still looks undervalued". One headline is a Newsweek interview with the company's chief digital information officer.
For breadth of stated commitment, Elevance, Cigna, Humana, and participating Blue Cross Blue Shield plans are also prominent…
The gap
The press story is about the stock. The assistants' story is about the industry, and Elevance is a supporting name in it. None of the sampled headlines mention prior authorization, enforcement or breaches, which are the contexts where the assistants named the company. The one shared thread is the digital and technology angle in the Newsweek interview. The assistants' prior authorization answers, in which Perplexity noted a technology commitment, are a nearby theme.
Volume does not close the gap either. Several peers have far more news coverage and far more answer appearances, but Amgen has roughly five times Elevance's coverage and appeared in a similar number of answers (69 versus 64). Press volume and AI visibility are measured separately here, and they do not track each other one-for-one.
What to watch
First, the prior authorization pledge is the context where the answers most often placed Elevance next to peers. Perplexity's answer separated stated commitments from proven deployment, and a comms team can check whether public material supports either reading.
Second, the breach answer shows how a single event from a prior period can appear in a question about health insurers generally. Teams can track which questions pull in legacy incidents.
Third, this is one snapshot of live answers, and Grok supplied a large share of the appearances. A repeat run could look different, so treat these figures as a baseline to compare against, not as a fixed ranking.
