How the answers frame Deliveroo
PeakMetrics asked ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok 250 benchmark questions each on 2026-09-29, none naming a brand. Deliveroo was named in 49 of the 1,250 answers. By assistant, that was Grok 21 of 250, Perplexity 11, ChatGPT 10, Claude 4 and Gemini 3. In the same snapshot Uber was named in 1,069 answers, Lyft in 636 and DoorDash in 530.
Deliveroo's visibility depended on the question. By question intent, it appeared most in leadership (13%) and innovation (12%) questions. It did not appear in reliability, value or driver pay and earnings questions (0% each). Trust, safety, employer and sustainability questions each returned 2%.
The three stored answers we reviewed, a sample of the 49, show the pattern. In ChatGPT's answer to a question about ranking gig delivery companies by active users, Deliveroo came third, behind DoorDash and Uber Eats, at about 7 million monthly active users. ChatGPT attributed that figure to coverage of DoorDash's acquisition and cautioned that the figures were not directly comparable.
Claude's answer on gig-economy controversies named Deliveroo once, in a line about a UK strike by Uber Eats and Deliveroo drivers. Gemini's answer on app design listed Deliveroo alongside DoorDash, Uber Eats, Zomato and Swiggy, and credited it for a distinctive visual identity. Across all its appearances, the credited themes tracked in the data were Labour & Workplace and Customer Experience, one each.

What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index recorded 1,326 mentions of Deliveroo over the last 30 days, 145 with the brand in the headline. That is well below Uber (39,208) and DoorDash (16,345) in the same index, and above Grubhub (2,010) and Bolt (1,291) on mention count.
Of the five recent headlines supplied, three covered a criminal case in which a Deliveroo rider was jailed for a serious offence, in outlets including dailymail.com and msn.com. The other two covered an early Deliveroo backer investing in a tooth enamel regeneration startup. In those examples the company name serves as an identifier in the story, and the coverage is not about its operations.
In February 2025, Ubereats and Deliveroo drivers across the UK staged what was described as the largest strike by platform workers in the UK for higher wages…
The gap
The press and the assistants are telling different stories. The recent headlines center on a criminal case and an investor's new venture. The sampled answers describe Deliveroo through user-base size, a UK strike and app design, and none of them referenced the case.
Deliveroo also carries far more news volume than its answer presence would suggest. It sits among the mid-sized names in the news index, while in this snapshot it appeared in a small share of answers. Press attention and AI visibility did not move together here. We cannot say from one snapshot how either would shift over time.
What to watch
For a Deliveroo comms team, the snapshot points to three checks. First, see which sources the assistants draw on when they do name Deliveroo. ChatGPT's user figure came from coverage of an acquisition, so third-party reporting shaped that description. Second, the zero readings on reliability, value and driver pay questions mean the company is absent from the questions where operational and labour narratives are formed. Third, the strike reference in Claude's answer shows Deliveroo can enter a labour-controversy answer as a secondary name next to Uber.
Live answers vary between runs, so treat these figures as one dated reading from 2026-09-29. Re-run the same benchmark questions before drawing conclusions, and watch whether the news storylines begin to appear in assistant answers.
