How the answers frame Bolt
In this snapshot from 2026-09-29, Bolt was named in 105 of 1,250 answers to 250 benchmark questions that never mentioned a brand, across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok. Uber was named in 1,069 of the same 1,250 answers, and Lyft in 636. Bolt sits in the middle of the sector table, behind the big U.S. names and ahead of Shipt, DiDi, Deliveroo, Waymo, Gopuff and Zoox.
The assistants differ sharply. Grok named Bolt in 52 of 250 answers and ChatGPT in 21. Claude named it in 18, Gemini in 8 and Perplexity in 6. Most of Bolt's presence comes from one assistant.
The framing in the sampled answers is regional. Gemini's answer on reliability placed Bolt in "Africa and parts of Europe" and listed it in a table as offering competitive pricing in Europe and Africa. Grok's answer on challengers called Bolt Estonia-based, active in 45+ countries, and one of the "most aggressive challengers" with a lower-commission model. Grok's answers on governance and trip volume named Bolt in passing, in the second case as regionally significant but much smaller than Uber by trip volume.
Claude's answer on integrating transit, bikes and scooters mentioned Bolt for offering scooter rentals alongside ride-hailing. It said no major platform had comprehensively integrated all these modes.
Visibility varied by question type. Leadership questions had the highest Bolt visibility at 20%, followed by innovation at 13% and app experience and features at 12%. Driver pay and earnings, and subscriptions and promotions, were lowest at 3% each, and employer questions reached 4%. The credit tags attached to Bolt were few: Not Substantive (3) and Price & Value (2).
Competitive pricing in Europe and Africa; often a strong alternative to Uber.
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index shows 1,291 mentions of Bolt in the last 30 days, 695 with the brand in the headline. That is well below Uber (39,208) and DoorDash (16,345), and above Shipt (726) and DiDi (1,993 is higher, so Bolt sits just under DiDi in volume terms only if headline counts are ignored; on mentions Bolt is lower).
The recent headlines point in several directions. They include a Bolt partnership with the Kenya Red Cross to train boda boda riders in emergency response, a report on a partnership between Lucid and Bolt, a pledge by Bolt to remain in and expand operations in Nigeria, and a story about transporters reacting to Uber's exit from Nigeria and warning Bolt and InDrive. One headline concerns a camera product called Bolt-821CRS, which is unrelated to the ride-hailing brand.

The gap
The press and the assistants both touch Africa, but they tell different stories. The headlines are event-driven: a safety training partnership, a market commitment in Nigeria, a competitor's exit. The answers mostly describe Bolt in general terms, as a low-price regional alternative, and rarely mention any of these events in the sampled text.
Coverage volume and answer presence also diverge for peers. Waymo has more news mentions (9,334) than Bolt but was named in fewer answers (45). Bolt's answer presence is tied to question type and to which assistant responds, more than to news volume.
What to watch
A comms team for Bolt would see a brand that these answers place in a supporting role. Grok drives most of its visibility, while Gemini and Perplexity name it rarely. It is worth checking which sources feed the Grok answers, since the challenger framing there cites market research pages rather than Bolt's own announcements.
The low visibility on driver pay and earnings, and on subscriptions and promotions, suggests these topics are not yet associated with Bolt in these answers. The Nigeria and Kenya stories are candidates for the kind of concrete, citable material the sampled answers did not reflect.
This is a single snapshot of live answers, which vary between runs. It should be re-measured before anyone treats it as a pattern.
