The review’s account of the chronology places the flag’s first public appearance in print on April 17, 1885, in the Sinhalese newspaper Sarasawi Sandaresa. It says the flag was first hoisted at Deepaduththaramaya temple in Kotahena on April 28, 1885. The review therefore distinguishes the claim’s February date from the documented dates it presents for publication and hoisting; it does not establish that either April event was the flag’s introduction to the world in every possible sense.
