FACTLY’s investigation identifies the footage as showing a woman being beaten by her husband—not a communal attack—and says the incident took place in Telangana rather than Uttar Pradesh. To investigate the video, the review reports that it ran screenshots through Google Reverse Image Search. That search led to the same video uploaded by The Times of India on YouTube under the title “Caught on cam: Telangana Sub-Inspector beats wife, baby, mother-in-law.” FACTLY says the video’s visuals show the woman being beaten by her husband after she questioned his extramarital affair. The review also notes a mismatch between the video’s earlier circulation and the later post: it says the video had been uploaded six months before the post was being widely shared as a communal incident.
