Shiva Lingam visuals in Nepal Pashupatinath temple

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerns a photo shared as showing Shiva Lingam visuals at Pashupatinath temple in Nepal. FACTLY reports that the image instead shows a transparent Shiva Lingam at Paradarshi Shiva Mandir in Mandwa, Rajasthan, and says it has no connection to Pashupatinath. The article’s conclusion is specific to the photo in the post: it does not establish that the pictured visuals are from the Nepal temple. To check the image, the review says it used reverse image search and found a similar photo on the Paradarshi Shiva Mandir Facebook page, which identified the visuals as being from Mandwa. It also reports finding similar visuals in YouTube videos published by the temple. These comparisons support the Rajasthan identification and contradict the claimed Nepal location.

Visuals of Ekambaranathar temple Shiva lingam decorated with 1,00,008 diamonds

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerns a video said to show a Shiva lingam decorated with 1,00,008 diamonds at Ekambaranathar temple in Kanchipuram. The review identifies the visuals instead as an older event at Murugan temple in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu: in 2018, diamond Kavacham, or armour, was placed on the lingam there during Pradosham celebrations. It states that this lingam is not part of Ekambaranathar temple. To trace the video, the investigation says it reverse-searched screenshots from the shared footage and found similar visuals in social-media videos, most published in August 2018. It also reports finding the same video on the Sri Sri Rashasthali YouTube channel, and similar footage on News 18 Telugu. The review describes News 18 Telugu as reporting that the diamond-armoured lingam was at Murugan temple in Sivakasi, not Ekambaranathar temple.

Poster saying, ‘Brahmins Are Foreigners, Their Homes Have ACs’

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerns a poster image shared online with the wording “Brahmins Are Foreigners, Their Homes Have ACs.” The review says that wording was added to an image of a real rally poster, whose original message was “Brahmins Are Foreigners, Their DNA Is Eurasian.” It places the rally in January 2018 and identifies it as a Bahujan Mukti Morcha protest connected to the Bhima Koregaon incident. To check the image, the review describes a reverse-image search that located a similar image in a Facebook post dated 15 January 2018. It also says that, on close inspection, the Hindi text corresponding to “Their Homes Have ACs” had been digitally added and that the alignment of the lower line differed from the line above it. The review then sought material identifying the rally and poster: it reports finding a Facebook post describing a Bahujan Kranti Morcha protest against the Bhima Koregaon incident in Bhiwani District, Haryana, and a Dainik Jagran article showing the same poster. These comparisons support the review’s conclusion that the image was altered, rather than evidence that the claimed wording was on the original rally poster.
