The claim concerns a viral screenshot purporting to show RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat asking why people could praise an actor or idolize a sportsperson but not treat Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an ideal. Vishvas News investigated whether Bhagwat had posted that message. Its conclusion was that the screenshot did not show a genuine post from him: the text came from a fan account, not Bhagwat’s own account. The review also reports that RSS official Narendra Kumar said Bhagwat had not posted it. The account visible in the screenshot used the handle @MohanBhagwat_. Vishvas News says it found that account on Twitter and that its profile identified it as “Mohan Bhagwat Fan” and described it as a parody account. The review reports finding the viral text on that account dated March 11, 2019. That account history links the message to a source impersonating or parodying Bhagwat, rather than establishing that Bhagwat authored it. As an additional check, the investigators say they found Bhagwat’s verified official account and searched it for the claimed post, but found no such tweet. They also contacted Narendra Kumar, RSS’s all-India co-publicity chief, who said Bhagwat had not tweeted it and that it came from a fake account. Taken together, the account’s own fan/parody identification, the reported older post on that account, the absence of the message from Bhagwat’s verified account, and the RSS representative’s denial support the finding that the screenshot was falsely attributed.

AAP backtracking on the promise of providing Rs. 1,000 every month to every woman above 18 in Punjab blaming PM Modi for not providing enough funds
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The review examined a claim circulating alongside a separate AAP promise concerning women in Himachal Pradesh. The claim at issue was that AAP had made a similar promise in Punjab, then backed away from it and blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not providing funds. The review distinguishes the promise itself from the allegation that it had been withdrawn.

Madhya Pradesh government decided to introduce separate liquor stores for women
Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING
The post circulated an image of a newspaper clip about separate liquor stores for women in Madhya Pradesh as though it reported a recent decision by the current government. FACTLY’s review says the clip itself had no publication date, so the post’s presentation left out important timing and political context. The review’s finding is that the decision described in the clip belonged to an earlier government, not the current one. To check the clip’s history, the review says an internet search using relevant keywords located the original news clip. It dates that clip to 28 February 2020 and identifies the decision as one made by the Congress government headed by Kamal Nath. The review also points to other news reports from that period describing the proposal: one women-friendly store each in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior, intended to let women buy alcohol without inhibitions. The review further reports that Shivraj Singh Chouhan, then the opposition leader, criticized the decision. It says there were no recent reports of the current government contemplating the initiative. Taken together, the evidence supports the distinction at the heart of the post: the reported decision was real, but the undated old clip was misleading when shared as recent news about the current government.

The claim concerns a video circulated as showing people chasing Hirunika Premachandra during a protest in Kegalle on April 4, 2022. Fact Crescendo examined whether the footage matched that event. The review says it checked that the Samagi Wanitha Balawegaya had organized a Kegalle protest that morning, and compared images of Premachandra at that protest with the circulating video. It noted that her sari appeared light blue-grey in images from Kegalle, but cream-coloured in the video being shared as Kegalle footage. The investigation traced the video to a different event: on April 2, in Anuradhapura, Premachandra and others were heading toward the premises of the woman known as Gnana Maniyo when police obstructed their way. The review describes the footage as showing the group running during that encounter, rather than being chased at the Kegalle protest. The review says it compared social-media posts with footage and reports about the events, and contacted Premachandra. She said the circulating clip was from the Anuradhapura incident and was being falsely presented as showing her running at Kegalle. The review also reports that Samagi Wanitha Balawegaya secretary Nirupa Karunaratne distinguished the events: there was a confrontation at the Kegalle protest, but the shared video showed the Anuradhapura episode. Thus the footage was real, but its attribution to the Kegalle protest was wrong.

Photo of Yogi Adityanath drinking water from a handpump after becoming the CM
Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING
The review examines a social-media post claiming that a photo shows Yogi Adityanath drinking from a handpump after he became Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. Its central finding is that the photo predates his chief ministership: the review says the same image was found in a tweet posted on 24 April 2016, while Adityanath became Chief Minister in 2017. The claim therefore assigns the image to the wrong period.
JD(S) party leader Kumaraswamy has secretly got engaged to Mia Khalifa in his farmhouse
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerns a screenshot styled as a bulletin from the Kannada news channel Kasturi 24. It alleges that JD(S) leader H. D. Kumaraswamy secretly got engaged to Mia Khalifa at his farmhouse, and also says the party high command planned to expel him. FACTLY examined whether the channel had actually reported the alleged engagement. The review says it could not find such a report on Kasturi 24’s YouTube channel or other social media accounts. It also looked for reporting by other news outlets and says it found none. These checks address the screenshot’s central implication—that the bulletin reflected a real, reported engagement—rather than establishing the alleged event from independent evidence. FACTLY reports finding the same screenshot on a Facebook page that had posted memes targeting Kumaraswamy and other Karnataka Congress leaders. It concludes that the screenshot was made as a meme and that Kasturi 24 did not report the engagement. The excerpt therefore supports treating the purported news bulletin as fabricated, not as evidence that the engagement occurred.
