The posts described Macron as having recently been struck in the face. The review says that several videos of the alleged incident circulated on social media in November 2022, and that the posts were dated 22 November. Its account identifies the footage as showing an event from 8 June 2021, not a new attack in November 2022.

The review investigates a popular video that appears to show Elon Musk referring to “dictators als Mark Rutte” and discussing Dutch farmers. It concludes that the clip is a deepfake and that Musk did not make the statements attributed to him. The article identifies the footage used to create it as coming from a TED event on April 14, 2022, and says Musk discussed nothing about the Dutch prime minister in that conversation. The review also checks the clip’s visual and production clues. It reports that the TED footage’s purple background and Musk’s clothing match those in the video. It further notes that text visible in related fake videos identifies TryParrotAI.com, an app that lets users select public figures and put words in their mouths using a voice-over or moving video. The article says the same TED interview was used for other fake Musk videos, including ones about Twitter layoffs and a supposed Meta takeover. The claim about Dutch farmers disappearing also sits in a different timeline from the original footage: the review says the nitrogen issue drew international attention in summer 2022, after government plans were announced, whereas the TED conversation was in April. The clip therefore combines real footage from an earlier event with later subject matter and fabricated speech.

Recent video of BJP leader threatening people in Gujarat

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The claim concerns a video circulating ahead of Gujarat’s 2022 Assembly elections, presented as recent footage of a BJP leader threatening people in Gujarat. FACTLY identifies the person shown as Abhesinh Tadvi, a BJP MLA from the Sankheda constituency, and says the footage was from a 2021 election campaign, not a recent incident. Its account places the confrontation during campaigning for Gujarat’s District Panchayat polls in February 2021. To investigate the video’s timing and provenance, FACTLY says it examined the footage and noticed a Gujarat Tak watermark. It then found an earlier video with similar visuals on ABP Asmita’s website, dated 25 February 2021. That report identified Tadvi and placed the incident at an election campaign in Haripura village, in Gujarat’s Chhotaudepur district. FACTLY also says other news websites reported the incident in February 2021. The review describes a village meeting ahead of the district panchayat polls where Tadvi became angry after a man questioned him about house construction. According to its account, Tadvi told the man to be quiet and leave, said work would be done, and warned attendees that the constituency would not change if he did not receive votes in the panchayat election. The key distinction is therefore the footage’s age and setting: it depicts a 2021 campaign incident, although it was recirculated as recent during the run-up to the 2022 state election.

Claim: Modi not announced tamil as the national language in kashi Tamil sangamam

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerned a social-media post saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Tamil as India’s national language at the Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi. The review identifies the event as one organised at the BJP’s initiative and says Modi inaugurated it. It reports that the announcement claim circulated while the event drew both support and opposition in Tamil Nadu. The review’s central finding is that Modi did not make the claimed announcement. It also notes that the post circulated with a Junior Vikatan logo, and says the fact-check team contacted Junior Vikatan and the BJP IT division to verify the claim. The excerpt does not provide a transcript or recording of Modi’s remarks, or describe further details of those conversations, so those should not be inferred from the review.
