Visuals of recently sworn in Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah dancing while under the influence of alcohol

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

FACTLY examined a viral video circulated with the claim that it showed newly sworn-in Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dancing while under the influence of alcohol. Its review distinguishes two clips combined in the video: one showing Siddaramaiah consuming alcohol, and another purporting to show him dancing. The investigation concludes that the dancing clip does not depict Siddaramaiah. For the dancing clip, FACTLY says a reverse image search of extracted keyframes found the same footage circulating with the same claim since March 2018. The review reports that coverage from that time identified the dancer as Channamaha Gowda, also called Channamaayi Gowda, a farmer from Mysore. It says the footage was recorded at a sustainable grains and millets workshop on the outskirts of Bengaluru in March 2018. The review also reports that Suvarna News interviewed Gowda, who clarified that he was the person dancing in the video. Thus, although the viral post pairs the dancing footage with a separate clip of Siddaramaiah drinking, the investigation identifies the dancer as Gowda, not the Chief Minister.

Batalhão do Exército em Ponta Grossa foi pintado de vermelho pelo governo Lula

Publisher’s rating: Falso

The claim concerns a video recorded in Ponta Grossa, Paraná, in which a person says that an Army battalion’s former olive-green appearance was replaced with red in a display of communism. The review identifies the filmed site as the 5th Armored Cavalry Brigade and says that its red-and-white appearance was not a new change ordered by Lula. To check the video’s setting, the review says it examined the site’s walls and identified the location as the brigade. It then points to a 2020 publication showing the battalion’s headquarters already painted red and white, before Lula took office. The review describes the colors as a traditional feature of cavalry units and says the Ponta Grossa case followed the same pattern as an earlier rumor about a different Army installation in São Paulo. The video’s narration and the site’s appearance alone do not establish who ordered the paintwork or when it was done. The review’s cited earlier image is the key evidence against the suggestion that the colors were introduced by the Lula government: it places the same colors at the headquarters before his administration. The review also distinguishes the claim about the paint from broader political allegations in the video, noting that the colors do not demonstrate that Brazil’s regime had changed.
