The queen of the United Kingdom invited a Prime Minister of India (Narendra Modi) to her home for the first time in history

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The viral claim paired two assertions: that the woman shown with Narendra Modi was the queen of the United Kingdom, and that she invited an Indian prime minister to her home for the first time in history. FACTLY says it checked the video’s keyframes with a reverse image search and traced the clip to Modi’s 2022 visit to Denmark, not a visit to the UK queen. The review identifies the host as Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II and the occasion as an official dinner for the golden jubilee of her reign. The review gives the visit’s setting as Modi’s official trip to Denmark from 3–4 May 2022, during a broader European visit from 2–4 May. It says the dinner followed his discussions with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. Thus, the video does not show the event described in the claim. The review separately addresses whether a UK queen had previously hosted an Indian prime minister. It says Modi had been invited to Buckingham Palace several times, but that Queen Elizabeth had hosted former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi there in 1969. On the evidence presented, the post misidentifies both the queen in the video and the country, and its “first time” assertion is contradicted by the earlier hosting. The review concludes that the claim is false.
