Publisher’s rating: Falso
The claim concerned a purported Barcelona city-council notice, signed in the name of mayor Ada Colau, warning that new coronavirus infection points had been found near Sants and in Santa Eulàlia. The message also named the Badal area and urged people to avoid circulating near the supposed locations. The review reports that the city council said the communiqué was false on its Twitter account. The notice also referred to L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. The review points out that Barcelona’s council does not have authority over that municipality, which undermines the notice’s presentation as an official warning from that council. At the time described in the review, three coronavirus cases had been confirmed in Barcelona; the Department of Health said they were all located at Hospital Clínic. The evidence presented therefore contradicts the message’s claim of newly detected infection points around Sants and Santa Eulàlia.
Publisher’s rating: Falso
The claim attached a photograph of a person in a gas mask buying groceries to Lidl in Lugo and linked it to Spain’s coronavirus outbreak. The review says the image was instead taken in Austria’s Tyrol region, in a supermarket belonging to Aldi—known there as Hofer. Its central correction is about the image’s location and store, not whether the pictured person was responding to the outbreak. To check the setting, the investigators used a reverse-image search and examined visible details in the photograph. They identified German-language signs and the Hofer mark, and compared the store counter with images of a shop in Innsbruck. The review also says the shopping cart carried the same supermarket logo. Together, those checks contradict the caption’s identification of the scene as a Lidl in Lugo. The review reports additional support from Austrian coverage: Standard placed the scene in Tyrol, while Kurier reported that it had contacted the photographer, who worked in an office building beside the shop in Innsbruck. The review quotes the photographer as saying he took the picture on his phone and sent it to a private WhatsApp group. It also notes that the image was circulating on social media with the Lugo attribution. These details support the correction of the image’s provenance; the excerpt does not independently establish the shopper’s identity or motive.

The post claimed that Honduras had reported its first COVID-19 patient on February 19: a 52-year-old woman returning from Taiwan via Los Angeles. It then treated that report as proof that community transmission was already occurring in Taiwan and accused the government of concealing it. The review distinguishes a report of a suspected case from a confirmed diagnosis: it says Spanish-language media reported that a traveler from Taiwan was suspected of having COVID-19, but that testing later ruled it out.

Publisher’s rating: Falso
The claim concerns an image of a chained monkey said to show coronavirus being injected to test Remdesivir as a possible vaccine. Newtral identifies the image instead as a frame from a video published on YouTube in October 2019 by Cruelty Free International and German animal-activist group Soko Tierschutz. The review says those organizations attributed the footage to a laboratory in Germany where medicines were tested on monkeys, cats and dogs. The review’s key chronological point is that the first cases of the outbreak were detected in December at a seafood market in Wuhan, China—two months after the video was published. That sequence means this footage predates those reported outbreak cases and does not show the claimed coronavirus experiment. Newtral therefore rejects the image’s alleged connection to testing Remdesivir or a vaccine.

WHO issues advisory against buying of Holi colors from Coronavirus-hit China
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
Vishvas News examined a social-media image claiming that the World Health Organization and the Government of India had warned people not to use colors and products from China for Holi during the coronavirus outbreak. The review reports that neither organization had issued such an advisory. It also says a WHO public-health risk communication specialist denied that WHO had released a warning against buying colors from China.

The claim described a mother asking her son, who worked for the central government, whether he had queued to buy masks. The message alleged that the government gave him a packet of 50–100 masks, and contrasted that with the public’s limit of two masks per purchase. The review investigated whether central-government civil servants generally received packets of government masks.

The report checked a media story claiming that Russia’s Ministry of Health had identified the new coronavirus as artificial. It traced the story to the ministry’s provisional guidance on preventing, diagnosing and treating 2019-nCoV, and examined the cited document rather than treating the media report’s characterization as the document’s wording. The review says the document’s cover bore the Russian health minister’s signature and that its stated purpose was to gather information for medical and infectious-disease personnel.
