ට්රැමඩෝල් Pencil Candy පිළිබඳ මත්ද්රව්ය නාශක අංශවලින් අනතුරු ඇඟවීමක්!
Publisher’s rating: Misleading
The review investigated social-media posts in Sri Lanka alleging that traffickers were selling schoolchildren pencil-shaped candy containing 300–500 mg of tramadol. It says the post and its accompanying images had circulated since 2018 and were circulating again at the time of the review. The investigation focused on whether the pictured product was drug-laced candy and whether authorities had evidence of its sale to children. The reviewer examined the image and conducted a reverse-image search. Although that search did not identify an official source for the exact image, the review says pencil-shaped sweets for children were available in different countries. It then sought information from police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Nihal Thalduwa and from Chamara Karunaratne, spokesperson for the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board. Thalduwa said police had received no information about this kind of drug-trafficking operation and had conducted no such raid. Karunaratne said the Board had received no evidence that the alleged candy was being sold to children, including during an earlier examination prompted by the post’s circulation. The review also consulted physician Ananda Wijewickrama, who described tramadol as a strong painkiller generally used for severe pain, rather than a drug contained in the pictured candy. He said a typical capsule contains about 50 mg and tramadol is dispensed on prescription. The review therefore found no substantiation for the post’s specific allegation: the claimed 300–500 mg candy was not supported by evidence reported from the police or the Board, and the image search did not establish that the pictured item contained tramadol. The article distinguishes that unsupported claim from the separate fact that tramadol is a potent medicine and that authorities had made seizures involving unlawful tramadol storage.

Young woman seen in the video faints due to a heart attack and is rescued by a man by performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING
The claim presents the clip as footage of a real woman suffering a heart attack and being saved by CPR. FACTLY reports instead that the clip is part of an informative CPR video made by doctor Manoj Mittal of Jagadamba Baby Care in Karnal, Haryana. Its account says the longer version shows Mittal explaining CPR while the woman is unconscious, then asking for an ambulance; after she regains consciousness, she is taken away on a stretcher. The report identifies the video as educational and scripted, not a record of a real rescue. FACTLY says it found an extended version by searching online with relevant keywords. It also describes comparing that version with a horizontally filmed version: both show the same woman fainting at the same location, but the surrounding details differ. In the horizontal video she is by a banana stall; in the vertical one, by a sweet-lime shop. The vertical version also includes Mittal showing a paper with his social-media details and saying near the end that the video is for informative purposes. The review further notes that Mittal wears a collar microphone in both versions and says it is hard to believe someone would have a heart attack at precisely the same place twice. Taken together with the instructional explanation and the versions’ differences, the review concludes that the scene was staged. The excerpts do not independently establish that the woman experienced a real heart attack or that CPR rescued her; they describe the apparent emergency as part of an awareness video.
