The claim ties footage of a flag being pulled from the European Commission’s building in Rome to Ursula von der Leyen’s warning to Italian politicians ahead of the September 2022 election. The review’s key dating evidence is that the same scene appears in a video that had been online since 15 December 2013. It describes the full clip as showing an action by the neofascist group Casapound Italia on the previous day, followed by a confrontation with police outside the Commission’s Rome representation. This places the flag incident years before the election at issue: “Dieselbe Szene ist unter anderem in einem Video zu sehen, das seit 15. The review separately places von der Leyen’s remarks in the run-up to the 2022 election, and the election on 25 September 2022. The older footage therefore cannot show a reaction to those later remarks or election developments. The evidence described is the older online video and the full clip’s identification of the event; the excerpt does not detail a frame-by-frame comparison or other verification procedure.
