Rabobank told dpa that the pictured letter was sent by the bank itself and was not a scam. The review says the image was also used in a 2021 report about the same alleged scam.

Those figures also related to the overall adult population, not just working-age adults, as the post claimed. Since the 2014-15 fiscal year many more people, and a larger proportion of the adult population, have started paying income tax. In 2023-24 the proportion of adults and of working-age adults who did not pay income tax were both around 35%.
