The Labour Party said: “A recent report for the Department of Finance estimated 11.5 billion euros of private financing will be required per year to reach a target of 50,000 homes a year.”

Publisher’s rating: This is not supported by a Department of Finance report from earlier this year. That report estimated that 11.5 billion euros of private finance would be required every year to deliver 33,000 homes, the current target under the Government’s Housing for All plan. That same report says that to deliver 50,000 homes a year it would require 16.9 billion euros.

潜在的な国民負担率は62.9%?

Publisher’s rating: 不正確

The review says the potential national burden rate was 62.7% in 2020, but the latest actual figure cited was 54.7% for 2022 and the 2024 estimate was 50.9%. It therefore says the claim misleadingly presents the 62.9% figure as current.

Kemi Badenoch at PMQs complaining about 4-day week. She thinks staff get an extra day off – less hours for same pay! She fails to realise that 40hrs over 4 days is still 40hrs!

Publisher’s rating: South Cambridgeshire District Council first trialled a four-day working week for some staff in January 2023, which has seen workers get 100% pay but only work around 80% of their hours. On November 8, a few days before Mrs Badenoch’s comment during PMQs, the council was sent a letter from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to say a letter it had previously sent with concerns about the four-day week scheme had expired and would not be reissued. On the same day, the Government withdrew guidance that said it does “not support a 4-day working week in local authorities”.

A post on TikTok claimed that HMRC is warning pensioners of a £130 deduction to the monthly state pension. It also suggests that the Government is “trying to lessen pension amount also”.

Publisher’s rating: There were no plans to reduce either the basic or full state pension in the most recent Budget and there has been no suggestion from the Government that there will be in future. The Government has said that it is committed to the so-called triple lock, which commits it to increasing the state pension every year. Some experts have raised concerns that frozen tax thresholds may increase the number of pensioners paying income tax, but these figures are speculative and have not been issued as guidance by HMRC. The figure of £130 in these projections is also an annual figure of income tax, rather than a deduction per month. Additionally, tax thresholds are set to be unfrozen from the 2028/29 financial year.

هل تختلف فعلًا تداعيات إدراج لبنان على اللائحة الرمادية بين لبنان ودول أخرى مثل موناكو؟

Publisher’s rating: صحيح

The review says Lebanon’s grey-listing can have different consequences from Monaco’s because each country has distinct circumstances and shortcomings. It argues that Lebanon’s smaller economy may make correspondent banks less willing to absorb the extra scrutiny and costs, and notes that the country was added to the FATF grey list on 25 October 2024.
