Video shows boycott of French products in Arab countries.
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerns a video shared amid calls to boycott French products in 2020. Its captions described the footage as Arab countries dumping French goods. The review reports that this interpretation was wrong: the video showed spoiled chicken being disposed of in Saudi Arabia in 2016, rather than a boycott of French products.

The claim concerned a Bauhaus sign saying that shopping with children was not allowed, and social-media posts presented it as a current restriction. The review reports that the sign was genuine, but that its circulation lacked the relevant timing: according to Bauhaus, it had appeared briefly in one store in the Hamburg area in March 2020 and was removed after complaints. The review says that shopping with children was allowed at the time of its investigation. To check the sign’s origin, the review notes a Facebook post dated 25 March 2020 that included the photo and named a Hamburg Bauhaus store. It also reports that Bauhaus confirmed the sign’s authenticity in response to a Deutsche Presse-Agentur inquiry. A company spokesperson described it as a single sign placed locally rather than under central direction, and said it was removed promptly once its existence became known. The review also gives the company’s explanation for how the sign came about: Bauhaus’s verified Facebook account said in October that it had been put up at one store at the start of the pandemic, because of difficulties local colleagues faced with family outings. The evidence therefore supports that the sign existed, but not the impression that a current, company-wide rule barred families from shopping with children.

"Donald Trump crashed the economy that Barack and I left him. Like everything else he's left and inherited, he squandered it."
Publisher’s rating: Only after the onset of the pandemic did economic growth take a nose-dive. It has subsequently experienced a strong recovery.
The BBC examined Joe Biden’s campaign claim that Donald Trump had crashed the economy he inherited from Barack Obama. Its assessment distinguished the pre-pandemic economy from the severe downturn caused by coronavirus: it said growth did not nosedive until after the pandemic began, and that growth then recovered strongly. The review also qualified that recovery: by the time of its account, the economy had not returned to its pre-pandemic level. The figures the BBC cited show why the qualification matters. Economic output rose by an annualized 33% in the third quarter of 2020 after a record pandemic-related fall. But the review clarified that the actual US growth rate over July–September was 7.4%; 33.1% was the annualized measure. It also noted that the last three years of the Obama administration had seen a similar growth rate, 2.3%.

The claim concerns an agreement circulated on WhatsApp that purportedly came from Hindustan Tower Private Limited. It promised payment for installing a Jio tower: a 20-year agreement, ₹40 lakh upfront, ₹25,000 monthly rent, and ₹12,000 per month for a guard. The review says a user sent the agreement to Vishvas News’s fact-checking WhatsApp chatbot, and that its investigation found the approval letter to be false. The article’s conclusion is specifically that Jio does not take money in the name of installing a tower. [S1]

The Modi government is responsible for 89.3 per cent debt-to-GDP ratio projected by the IMF for India
Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING
The post blamed the Modi government for India’s projected 89.3% debt-to-GDP ratio in 2020. The review accepts that the IMF projected that figure, but challenges the attribution of the full debt position to the central government alone. It says the figure covered borrowing by both the Union government and state governments. [S1]
