The review contrasted it with Lidl Netherlands’ actual Facebook page, which it says was linked from Lidl’s website and verified. The reported prize process also did not lead to a Lidl competition. People who responded were told they had won €3,000 and were asked to share the post and register. The registration route ended at a Games Unlimited site, where entering a mobile number activated a subscription service; the site did not mention Lidl or cash prizes. The review reports that the registration site’s links to terms, privacy, copyright and contact information did not work. These findings support the conclusion that the apparent Lidl promotion was a phishing attempt, not a genuine opportunity to win money.
