India’s National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ is declared by the UNESCO as the best anthem in the world.

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerned a Facebook post asserting that UNESCO had declared India’s national anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana,’ the best anthem in the world. FACTLY reports that it examined UNESCO’s official website and found a document addressing rumors and fake news attributed to UNESCO. That document listed the assertion about ‘Jana Gana Mana’ among the rumors, directly contradicting the post’s claim of an official UNESCO declaration. The review also places the post in the context of an earlier circulation of the same story. It says the claim had been shared repeatedly over eleven years and reports finding an India Today article from 2008 that called the story false. These points support the review’s conclusion that the Facebook post was repeating a rumor, rather than reporting a UNESCO announcement. The excerpt does not provide the UNESCO document’s title or date, or details of the 2008 article beyond that description.

This video proves that Shah Rukh Khan had donated Rs 45 crore to the Pakistan gas tanker tragedy victims, but did not do anything for the Pulwama martyrs.

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The video at issue claimed that Shah Rukh Khan had donated Rs 45 crore to victims of a gas tanker tragedy in Pakistan while doing nothing for the Pulwama martyrs. The Quint says the clip was a 45-second montage of tweet screenshots making that accusation. Its investigation traces the footage presented as evidence of a donation to an India TV bulletin from 4 July 2017—not to a new donation connected to the Pulwama attack. The review reports that the viral segment was edited from the longer India TV video. In that longer version, the channel’s account says a source from Khan’s media confirmed that he had made no such donation to Pakistan. The edit therefore removed context that, according to the review, showed the donation allegation to be false, then recirculated the footage to make the claim appear credible. The review also provides evidence that the video’s assertion that Khan did nothing for the Pulwama martyrs was inaccurate: it reports that Khan tweeted condolences to the families of the CRPF personnel killed in the attack. The review additionally notes past charitable donations, including one by his production house during the 2015 Chennai floods. Those examples do not establish whether he made every kind of contribution, but they contradict the video’s broad suggestion that he had never helped or expressed sympathy.

The recently released film Uri has been made tax-free in Pakistan

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerned a Facebook post by the page ModiNama saying that the recently released film Uri had been made tax-free in Pakistan. The post also asserted that Pakistan’s army had been asked to watch the movie on its first day. The Quint’s investigation traced the post’s supporting image to fauxy.com, rather than identifying it as a report of an actual Pakistani policy or instruction. [S1]
