Video of a man abducting a woman in Vikarabad

The post attributed footage of a woman being abducted to Vikarabad, Telangana. FACTLY reports that the Telangana State Police said the video was not related to the Vikarabad case and that there was no recorded CCTV footage available for that abduction. The review’s conclusion is that the circulating video showed a different incident, in Kolar, Karnataka, rather than the event named in the claim. To investigate, FACTLY says it searched for “Vikarabad Woman Kidnap” and found the police clarification on Facebook, as well as a Vikarabad police video on YouTube making the same point. The article also says a Kannada news channel had previously published the same footage and reported that the incident occurred in Kolar and that police rescued the woman. These details connect the video to a different location and incident, rather than merely showing that a similar abduction occurred elsewhere. The review also describes the video being shared with a second, incorrect location attribution: ECIL in Hyderabad. It reports that the Rachakonda police commissioner said the incident had not occurred there and that text had been edited into the video. FACTLY’s account therefore distinguishes the footage’s reported Kolar origin from both the Vikarabad and ECIL claims.
