Video of a former BSP MP surrendering before the UP police by falling at the feet of an officer

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The claim concerns a video said to show a former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP surrendering to Uttar Pradesh police by falling at an officer’s feet. FACTLY’s review identifies the person in the video as Naeem, whom it describes as a gangster, and says he was not a former BSP MP. It also reports that its search of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha websites found no former BSP MP named Naeem. To identify the person, the review says it found the same video posted by the CRUX YouTube channel. That upload’s title described a gangster walking into the Sambhal police station, and its description named him as Naeem. The review also checked reporting by news agencies and tweets from Sambhal Police; it says none identified Naeem as a former BSP MP. On the evidence described, the video shows Naeem surrendering, not the former MP claimed in the post. The review distinguishes this video from a separate surrender by former BSP MP Dhananjay Singh. It says Singh surrendered before a Prayagraj court after Lucknow police announced a reward for him. That separate event may explain the association with a former MP, but it does not establish that Singh is the person shown in the video.
