Image of a newspaper clipping that mentions the arrest of a BJP leader for links with the Naxals
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The post presents a Hindi newspaper clipping as connecting a BJP leader’s arrest for links with Naxals to the recent deadly Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. FACTLY found that the arrest itself was real, but the clipping joined that older news to a report about the 2021 attack: “Although the news about the BJP leader’s arrest for connection with Naxal’s is true, it happened back in June 2020. This news is digitally added to a news clip of Navabharat dated 05 April 2021, which reported the recent deadly attack by Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur.”

The review addresses a specific question prompted by footage of a police officer assaulting a lorry driver: whether a civilian may strike back at a police officer in self-defence. It reports that the police spokesman, Ajith Rohana, was asked about protecting one’s life during a television discussion and said officers could retaliate to prevent loss of life. The review also says that Rohana denied making a separate, widely circulated social-media statement that appeared to give civilians broad permission to hit police officers.

Video of a Muslim gym trainer’s misconduct with a woman trainee in Delhi
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim attached to the video was that it showed a Muslim gym instructor in Delhi behaving improperly toward a young Hindu woman trainee, and that Bilal Ahmed Khan ran gyms to lure women from Hindu families. FACTLY’s review says the video was being circulated with that allegation, but identifies the people shown as fitness instructor Imran Razac and his wife, Reshma Razac, in Trinidad and Tobago—not a Delhi trainer and trainee. The review reports that they are married and belong to the same community. (S1) To check the video’s provenance, the review says it found the footage on the Facebook and Instagram accounts of “Body by Imran,” where it had been posted in 2017. It also describes finding a similar workout video on those accounts; its description identified Imran training his wife at his gym. The review further reports that Imran clarified to Alt News in 2020 that the woman in the workout video was his wife and that they belonged to the same community. (S1) The location evidence also contradicts the Delhi framing: the review says the gym was in Trinidad and Tobago and points to social-media posts from “Body by Imran” identifying it as the “Last Circular Gym” there. Taken together, the reported original-account posts, the couple’s identification and relationship, and the gym location show that the footage was misrepresented as an incident in Delhi. The review does not describe the video as evidence of the alleged conduct in the claim. (S1)

"If Grassley-Cruz had passed, there’s a very good chance Sutherland Springs never would have happened, because the criminal who had committed a felony was ineligible to buy guns. The Obama Air Force never reported his conviction to the background database, and when he tried to illegally buy the gun, his conviction wasn’t there. He was allowed to buy the gun, and he murdered those people. If Grassley-Cruz had passed, they would have prosecuted him. They would’ve put him in jail, and he would have been in a jail cell instead of in that beautiful sanctuary."

The post described a video of police removing men from a metro train as an intervention against a disruptive group in a Spanish metro. The review identifies the footage instead as an incident on 2 October 2020 at Ștefan cel Mare station in Bucharest, Romania, involving football hooligans. It says the incident was not in Spain and was not caused by a “band of young people.”
«Le organizzazioni mafiose sono diventate una grande holding finanziaria che mobilita un volume di “malaffare” pari all’11% del nostro Pil. Parliamo di circa 220 miliardi di euro l’anno»

The claim concerns a statement Giuseppe Conte made on Facebook on March 21: that Italian mafia organizations had become a financial holding company, generating about €220 billion a year, or 11% of Italy’s GDP. Pagella Politica traced that figure to Eurispes, a private research organization, and found that its original publication date and calculation method were unclear. The earliest instance the review located was in Eurispes’s 2011 Agromafie report, which described organized crime as generating that estimated annual turnover.
