Lecturer Shabir Ahmed beaten to death by the Army in Kashmir
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim was that a video showed lecturer Shabir Ahmed being beaten to death by the Army in Kashmir after 5 August 2019, and that the incident was the first Army murder there following the abrogation of Article 370. FACTLY’s review examined the video circulating with that claim.
Terrorists protected by Pakistan army waiting at a PoK launchpad.
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The post described in FACTLY’s review claimed that a video of men carrying backpacks and guns showed terrorists protected by the Pakistan army waiting at a launchpad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to infiltrate India. FACTLY identified the video’s setting not as a PoK launchpad but as the Police Training College in Kohat, Pakistan. Its account says the footage showed a man in a Pakistan police uniform and men with luggage and backpacks, details it considered consistent with a training-camp setting rather than proof of the post’s description. The review describes several checks supporting the Kohat identification. It reports that a commenter on a tweet about the video identified the location as the Kohat Police Center in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. FACTLY then says a Google Maps search confirmed a police training centre in Kohat named Police Training College. It also compared the video’s building with a photograph in the college website’s photo gallery: the review points to matching building colour, balcony-grill pattern and high-wall design. On that basis, it concluded that the video was filmed at the college, not at a PoK launchpad. The described visual and location evidence supports where the video was filmed; it does not establish the men’s identities or their purpose.

Latest situation in Kashmir
Publisher’s rating: FALSE
The claim concerned a viral video of protesters being dragged by police that was presented as showing the latest situation in Kashmir. FACTLY’s review identifies the protesters instead as Junior Basic Training (JBT) teachers taking part in a protest in Haryana, and concludes that the video was not from Jammu and Kashmir. The reported narration in the footage refers to JBT teachers being dragged at Karnal, and the review says that a minibus visible in the video bears the words “Haryana Police Karnal.” These details point to a Haryana location, not the location asserted in the post.
