The claim concerned a video shared as evidence of attacks on Ukraine, with a post saying Russian paramilitary forces were landing near Kharkov. Vishvas News investigated that video and reported that it was not footage of the then-current situation in Ukraine: it had circulated online years earlier. The review’s conclusion was that the video was being presented in a misleading current context. To trace the clip, Vishvas News says it uploaded the video to the InVID tool, captured several screenshots, and used reverse image search. Those searches located the video on a website in 2019, where it was described as showing paratroopers in Kharkiv. The investigation then found the video on a Twitter account in September 2016, also described as footage of paratroopers landing. The review therefore places the clip’s online history at least as far back as 2016, well before the Ukraine situation to which the viral post attached it. Its evidence supports the narrower finding that the video is old and does not depict the then-current events; the excerpt does not independently establish when or where the footage was originally filmed.
