The video shows rows of military vehicles, including tanks and trucks, in Gdynia, Poland. Social-media posts claimed the equipment was waiting there to be shipped onward to Ukraine. The dpa investigation examined that specific video and allegation, rather than simply the general fact that countries were supplying Ukraine with military equipment. Its finding was that the vehicles were US military equipment returning to the United States, not a shipment for Ukraine. Dort würden die Fahrzeuge angeblich auf die weitere Verschiffung in die Ukraine warten”] To establish where the footage was taken, the investigators examined its final seconds, where they identified the signs “Terramar” and “Port Gdynia.” They compared the building with images on Google Maps and reported that it belongs to a Polish logistics company. This supported locating the recording in Gdynia, but the location alone did not establish the vehicles’ destination. The decisive evidence about the equipment’s identity and purpose came from the US Army, which confirmed in response to dpa that the returning material belonged to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. The Army said the unit had been sent to Europe as part of a regular troop rotation supporting Atlantic Resolve. The review reports that the equipment was being shipped back to the United States as the brigade left Poland—not transferred to Ukraine.
