The video shows Israeli air force dropping white phosphorous bombs on Gaza

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

FACTLY’s review addresses a video presented as showing Israeli forces dropping white-phosphorus bombs on Gaza. It reports that the footage dates to March 2023 and instead shows Russian forces using thermite munitions in Ukraine. The review therefore distinguishes the video’s actual subject from the Gaza claim, rather than disputing that the footage depicts falling incendiary material. To investigate the video’s origin, the review says it searched keyframes in reverse and found news reports using screenshots from the footage. It also located a longer version on The Telegraph’s YouTube channel, whose description identified the scene as Russian forces apparently targeting Vuhledar with incendiary thermite munitions. These provenance details support the review’s conclusion that the clip was recirculated with the wrong conflict, military, and weapon attribution.

Este video muestra "bombardeos israelíes sobre Gaza".

Publisher’s rating: Falso

The claim concerns a Facebook video captioned “Israeli bombings over Gaza leave thousands dead and injured,” which presents footage of aircraft fighting and missiles being launched from the ground as images from the Israel-Hamas war. The review says the 9-minute, 38-second video is not from that conflict, which began on October 7, 2023; it identifies the footage as gameplay from the military simulation game Arma 3. The review describes checking the video itself and tracing a visible “BELAL The Gamer” watermark: at about 1:26, that name appears at the bottom of the footage. The investigators searched for the watermark’s name and found social-media profiles using it. On the first Facebook profile, identified as a video-game creator, they found the same footage within a longer, 15-minute, 1-second video titled in English “An advanced missile destroys KA-52 combat helicopters - ARMA3.” The review reports that this longer video was published on August 6, 2023—about two months before the war began. That earlier publication, together with the matching footage and the game title, contradicts the Facebook caption’s implication that the clip documents the current conflict. The review also points to Arma 3’s website, which describes the title as a war-simulation video game. Its conclusion is limited to the footage’s provenance and its claimed connection to the Israel-Hamas war: the examined images are from a game video, not evidence of the purported real-world event.

Hamas paraglider crashes into high voltage electric power line and bursts into flame

Publisher’s rating: MISLEADING

The review examines a video presented as showing a Hamas paraglider crashing into a high-voltage power line and catching fire. It identifies the footage instead as a South Korean paraglider accident near Seopjikoji on Jeju Island. The review therefore distinguishes the apparent incident in the video from the claim about who was involved and where it happened. To investigate the footage, the review says it used reverse image searches on keyframes and found the video had circulated since June 2023. It also reports finding South Korean news coverage of the same incident, including a Jimu News article with a screenshot from the video. That article described a man caught in a high-voltage wire while paragliding near Seopjikoji. These details support the review’s identification of the footage as a South Korean accident, rather than the claimed Hamas incident.

Publisher’s rating: FALSE

The review checks a video circulated with the claim that Hamas militants were entering Israel by parachute. It says the post was shared on X with a caption describing Palestinians as entering Israel, and concludes that the footage was not from Israel but showed a military-training setting in Egypt. To investigate the location, the reviewers translated writing visible on a building in the video using Google Lens; they report that it read “military college.” They then used Google Maps to identify the site as associated with a military training academy in Egypt. Comparing the viral footage with an image of the Egyptian academy, they found the two images matched. The review says it could not determine when the video was recorded. Its conclusion is therefore about the footage’s location and what it depicts: it is Egyptian military-training footage, not evidence of Hamas militants entering Israel by parachute.

Publisher’s rating: False

The claim circulating on social media said that two more Cambodian students had been killed in the Israel-Palestine war. Fact Crescendo describes posts alleging the deaths in Israel or Palestine and reports that the claim spread among Khmer-speaking Facebook users. It also places the allegation in the context of an earlier confirmed death: Cambodian student Chan Oudom was killed in the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas. The review distinguishes that reported death from the new claim about two additional students. [S1: “A claim that went viral on social media last week said two more Cambodian nationals were killed in a recent attack of the Israel-Hamas war.”; “One Cambodian student was killed in a surprising attack by rockets from the Palestinian armed group Hamas on October 07, 2023.”] To check the new allegation, the review says it sought clarification from the Cambodian government and a Cambodian student living in Israel, and searched reporting from reliable media. Government spokesperson Pen Bona denied the claim, calling it “fake news,” and said more than 450 Cambodian students in Israel were in safe sites protected by Israeli armed forces and were in contact with government officials. [S1: “Fact Crescendo Cambodia began debunking the claim by requesting clarification from the Cambodian government, a student living in Israel, and searching the news reported by reliable media outlets.”; “However, the Cambodian government spokesperson Pen Bona denied the claim, saying it was ‘fake news’”; “The spokesperson added more than 450 Cambodian students living in Israel have been placed in safe sites protected by Israeli armed forces.”] The review also interviewed Koun Borey, a 22-year-old Cambodian student studying in Israel. He said he had not heard of two additional students being killed in the student group, and the review found no reporting of those deaths in its searches. Taken together, the review’s cited government denial, student account and absence of reliable reporting support its conclusion that the claim of two more deaths was false. [S1: “Borey said he has not gotten any information about the killing of two more Cambodian students shared among the group of Cambodian students in Israel.”; “However, we could not find the news reporting the killing of two more Cambodian nationals in our Google Search in recent days.”; “Fact Crescendo Cambodia found the claim mentioned above is false. No reliable source had reported the information and news.”]
