How the answers frame Zscaler
This is a single snapshot from 29 September 2026: 250 benchmark questions that never named a brand, put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok. Zscaler was named in 151 of the 1,250 answers. Grok carried the most (56 of 250) and Claude the fewest (17 of 250).
The framing was consistent and architectural. Perplexity's answer on remote-worker rollout described the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange as a cloud-native alternative to VPNs. Claude's product-quality answer filed Zscaler under "Emerging/specialized strength" rather than "Established leaders." Claude's zero-trust answer put it among "Platform Leaders" beside Palo Alto Networks. Grok's analyst-leader answer listed it as a consistent Leader in SSE and SASE, and the sampled Grok answer did not extend that to the endpoint or firewall categories it also covered.
Zscaler scored highest on leadership-style questions (49% visibility) and employer questions (22%). Visibility was 16% on safety, 14% on trust and innovation, and 13% on reliability. It was low on value (2%), service (3%), avoid (3%) and incident transparency (4%), and 0% on detection effectiveness. The attributions were thin: the credited-for field logged "Not Substantive" six times and "Financial Performance" once.
Zscaler was mid-table in its peer set. Microsoft Security (520 answers), CrowdStrike (442) and Palo Alto Networks (404) appeared far more often. That is one run of live answers, not a fixed ranking.
Purpose-built as a cloud-native alternative to VPNs, brokering access to internet and private apps with identity and device checks.
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index logged 6,891 Zscaler mentions in the last 30 days, 1,167 with the brand in the headline. The recent headlines are mostly about the business and the stock: fourth-quarter and fiscal 2026 results, an Investor Day on October 6, Jim Cramer on short interest, and a Palo Alto versus Zscaler stock comparison after earnings.
One headline covers the CEO discussing AI security demand and zero-trust momentum at a Citi conference. That is the closest the press sample comes to the product story the assistants told.
Well-regarded for cloud-native security architecture…
The gap
The press story is financial and investor-facing. The AI story is about architecture and analyst position. The assistants said little about earnings, and the recent headlines say little about what the assistants emphasized.
Coverage volume and answer volume also diverge across the peer set. Zscaler's 6,891 news mentions exceed those of SentinelOne (4,400) and Check Point (3,533), yet both appeared in a comparable or larger number of answers (201 and 186, against Zscaler's 151). Fortinet, with 8,214 news mentions, appeared in 269. Press attention did not translate one-for-one into AI visibility.
Zscaler's visibility also depended on the question. It was near the top on leadership and absent on detection effectiveness, so where the assistants brought it up was tied to how the question was asked.
Zscaler, Netskope, and Palo Alto Networks are consistent Leaders…
What to watch
For a comms team, the snapshot suggests two things to track. First, whether the "cloud-native, zero-trust" and "analyst leader" framings hold across repeated runs of the same benchmark questions. Second, whether questions on value, service, incident transparency and detection start to name Zscaler. In this run those question types mostly did not.
Claude's answers named Zscaler least often, and Grok's most often. Provider-level differences are worth tracking separately, since one assistant's framing may not match another's.
Live answers vary between runs. Treat these figures as one dated reading, not a trend.
