How the answers frame Tenable
This is a snapshot from 29 September 2026: 250 benchmark questions put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, 1,250 answers in all. None of the questions named a brand. Tenable was named in 16 of those answers. By provider that was ChatGPT 2, Claude 3, Gemini 3, Perplexity 4 and Grok 4, each out of 250. Visibility by question intent stayed between 0% and 3% in every category, with innovation and leadership highest at 3%. The data credits Tenable with no substantive attribute.
In the four stored answers we reviewed, Tenable is a list entry rather than the subject. ChatGPT's answer to a question about the best cybersecurity companies to work for listed it alongside CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Okta, Fortinet and Proofpoint. Gemini's answer on the most trusted vendors named it among eleven brands, in a passage that opened with Palo Alto Networks and CrowdStrike as the leading vendors.
The clearest product-specific framing came from Perplexity, on operational technology and industrial control systems. It described Tenable OT Security as offering "OT asset discovery and vulnerability prioritization" and said it was worth evaluating for organizations that already use Tenable. It put Dragos, Claroty, Nozomi Networks and Armis first. In Grok's answer on cloud security pricing for a 40-person startup, Tenable was grouped with Wiz, Prisma Cloud, CrowdStrike Falcon Cloud and Qualys TotalCloud as an "enterprise leader" with typical annual costs of $30K to $100K+.
Tenable OT Security** — OT asset discovery and vulnerability prioritization, especially worth evaluating if you already use Tenable.
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index shows 2,881 mentions of Tenable over the last 30 days, and 619 of them carry the brand in the headline. Recent headlines cover three storylines. One is a product announcement: Tenable bringing Claude Mythos 5 into the Tenable One exposure management platform, with a new "Adversary View". Another is finance: a pricing announcement for an upsized $725.0 million offering of convertible senior notes, and a Yahoo Finance piece saying the stock "still looks undervalued despite its 54% run". The fifth headline, a legal-guidance piece using the word "tenable", is not about the company.
The gap
Press volume and AI visibility diverge here. Tenable's news count of 2,881 is above Rapid7 (1,796), Proofpoint (966), Wiz (932) and Mandiant (904), yet its 16 named answers put it at the bottom of the 15-brand peer set. Those four peers were named in 43 to 57 answers each. Some peers with comparable or lower news counts, such as SentinelOne (4,400 mentions, 201 answers), were named far more often.
The press storylines are also different from the AI one. The news index is about an exposure-management product launch and a capital raise. The four answers we reviewed cast Tenable as a supporting option in OT security and an enterprise-priced cloud tool. None of the four stored answers mentioned the exposure management launch.
What to watch
For a Tenable comms team, the takeaway is that heavy news coverage did not translate into a prominent place in these answers. The OT security answer suggests where the assistants tie Tenable to a specific capability. The trust, leadership and employer answers use it mainly as filler in long vendor lists.
This is one snapshot, and live answers vary between runs. The useful next step is to repeat these benchmark questions, then check whether the exposure management story shows up in the answers, and which cited domains the assistants draw on when they describe Tenable's products.
