How the answers frame Stellantis
This snapshot (measured 2026-09-28) covers 25 answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok to questions that never named a brand. Stellantis appeared in 10 of them. Grok named it most often, in 4 of its 5 answers. Perplexity and Gemini named it once each, both on the recall question.
The dominant context is recalls. All five providers named Stellantis when asked which car companies have the worst recall records, though never as the lead example. ChatGPT listed Ford, Stellantis (Chrysler/Jeep/Ram/Dodge) and GM as the companies "most often at the top". Perplexity grouped Stellantis/Chrysler with Ford and Volkswagen Group. Claude's answer gave a 2024 figure of 4.8 million recalled units for Stellantis. Grok placed Stellantis/Chrysler behind Ford and Toyota in 2025 vehicle counts. The answers' credit categories match this: Safety & Compliance was the most common, followed by Labour & Workplace.
On worker treatment, Stellantis appeared alongside Ford and GM as a unionized Detroit manufacturer. ChatGPT listed it third in its short list. Claude and Grok described the UAW contract gains at the Big Three.
In the avoid question, only Grok named Stellantis. It said the Consumer Reports and J.D. Power data it cited put Stellantis brands (Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge) among the lower-ranked names for reliability. On EVs, Grok mentioned Stellantis only in a list of "other notables" and again among legacy automakers it said generally trail Chinese pure-plays and Tesla in volume growth.
Nissan, Stellantis, and Ford have also been singled out for slow recall remedy times, which is a separate measure from recall frequency.
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index shows 11,590 mentions of Stellantis over the last 30 days, 2,596 of them with the brand in the headline.
The five recent headlines supplied are about business moves. They cover Leapmotor local assembly in Malaysia, a two-motor hybrid drive module for the Jeep Cherokee, an MOU with a Canadian armoured vehicle maker on a possible sale of the Brampton, Ont., plant, a default fraud judgment of $5.5M, and a China joint venture to co-develop intelligent driving technology. None of the five is about a recall.
The gap
The press story is about deals, plants and technology partnerships. The AI story is about safety, compliance and labour. Recalls and union contracts dominate the answers, while the headlines describe electrification, driver-assistance work and asset sales.
Volume differs too. Stellantis and GM were each named in 10 of 25 answers, but GM has more news mentions (16,359 against 11,590). Toyota, at 20 of 25, has the most answers and the most news of the peers listed. Coverage volume and answer visibility do not move together in this snapshot. Hyundai has more news mentions than Stellantis (34,097) and was named in fewer answers (8).
What to watch
This is a single snapshot, and live answers vary between runs. Even so, the pattern is clear enough to test. Ask the recall, workforce and reliability questions again and check whether Stellantis keeps appearing as a group member behind Ford rather than as the lead example.
The EV and technology storylines in the press are barely visible in the EV answer. A comms team could check whether its partnership and product news is reaching the sources the assistants draw on. This snapshot does not include the cited-domain data needed to say which sources those are.
Perplexity's remedy-delay line is one to track. It frames a separate measure from recall frequency, and Stellantis is named in it.
