How the answers frame Stability AI
This snapshot, measured on 2026-09-29, covers 250 benchmark questions put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok. Stability AI was named in 32 of the 1,250 answers. By provider that was Claude 8, Grok 8, Gemini 7, ChatGPT 5 and Perplexity 4, each out of 250. Visibility by question intent was highest on data privacy (10%) and safety (9%). It was 0% on innovation, model capability, employer and sustainability questions.
The four stored answers that named the brand show the pattern. In ChatGPT's answer on image-generator safeguards against deepfakes, Stability AI was one of several tools listed for research. The answer's stated top picks were Adobe Firefly and OpenAI. In Claude's answer on which AI companies keep safety promises, Stability AI appeared only in a list of companies that joined the White House voluntary commitments in September 2023. That answer said Anthropic "appears to have the strongest reputation" for following through.
Gemini's answer on the most consistent image generator for professional work named "Stable Diffusion (via tools like ComfyUI or Automatic1111)" as the industry choice for maximum control and scalability. It credited the open-source ecosystem and LoRA training. Perplexity's answer on artist and writer opt-outs described Stability AI and Spawning's "Do Not Train" registry, and said Stability AI had promised to honor opt-outs for Stable Diffusion 3.
The credit tags fit that thin profile. Of the credited mentions, three were tagged "Not Substantive" and one "Sustainability & Ethics".
Stability AI has said it will honor opt-outs for Stable Diffusion 3.
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index recorded 328 mentions of Stability AI in the last 30 days, 19 with the brand in the headline. That is a small volume beside OpenAI (155,993), Anthropic (132,852) and Nvidia (150,360). It is also below Scale AI (22,115), which has the same number of answer appearances.
The recent headlines center on money and media. They include a $76M Series B backed by major entertainment firms, investment from Sony, Universal and Warner, and a CEO statement that its AI tools will be essential to making music. Other headlines cover the CEO opening an AI Creator Day with filmmakers.
It is an open-source ecosystem that allows for **LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation) training**.
The gap
The press story is about entertainment-industry backing and a push into music and film. None of the four stored answers mentioned funding, music or the studio investors. The answers placed the brand in the older image-generation story: open-source Stable Diffusion workflows, the 2023 safety pledge and the training opt-out debate.
Volume also differs. Coverage in the index is thin, but the brand is still named in some answers. Mistral AI has 1,122 news mentions and 149 answer appearances in its sample. Stability AI has 328 news mentions and 32 appearances. In this snapshot, press attention and answer visibility moved together at the low end, but the content of each did not overlap.
What to watch
A comms team would see that the questions where the brand surfaced most were safety and data privacy. In those answers, the brand was mentioned alongside opt-out and safeguard policies, and it was not the one the answers recommended. Whether the answers pick up the entertainment-partnership storyline is worth checking in later runs.
The answers cited policy commitments and opt-out registries as the reference points. The material those answers draw on is where a brand's current position would need to appear. These are single snapshots of live answers, which vary between runs, so treat them as a baseline and not a ranking.
