How the answers frame SiriusXM
This snapshot, measured on 2026-09-29, covers 250 benchmark questions put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, or 1,250 answers in all. SiriusXM was named in 3 of them. Gemini, Perplexity and Grok each named it once. ChatGPT and Claude did not name it at all. Visibility by question intent was 0% for most themes, including reliability, trust, value, safety, innovation and content catalog. It reached 2% for service and 1% for employer.
The two stored answers that named SiriusXM show two different framings. In Gemini's answer to a question about media companies and work-life balance, SiriusXM Radio sat in a list next to Disney, Minute Media and Crunchyroll, credited for paid time off and flexibility. The data tags this as Labour & Workplace.
In Perplexity's answer to a question about streaming companies that make canceling hard, SiriusXM was named as a frequent 'worst offender' in complaints, with reports describing phone-based cancellation and pressure to accept retention offers. The same answer noted that SiriusXM is satellite radio, not a video-streaming service, and that a roundup ranking it highly was anecdotal. The data tags this as Customer Experience. Perplexity also said Netflix and Paramount+ have been cited as having more straightforward cancellation options.
Sector peers filled the rest of the category. Verizon was named in 599 of the 1,250 answers, AT&T in 576 and T-Mobile in 506. Spotify, the nearest audio peer in the list, was named in 32.
A frequent “worst offender” in complaints is **SiriusXM**, where reports describe phone-based cancellation and pressure to accept retention offers…
What the press is saying
The PeakMetrics news index shows 8,269 mentions of SiriusXM in the last 30 days, with 384 carrying the brand in the headline. Recent headlines are mostly about programming and talent: a 2026-27 NHL coverage plan with live play-by-play of every game, Andy Cohen taking over a Howard Stern channel, Howard Stern ending a fantasy league amid a SiriusXM overhaul, an '80s rock band reuniting for a channel launch event, and WWE Radio moving to channel 93 on October 1.
That is a substantial volume of coverage. It is lower than several peers, such as Disney at 93,991 and Netflix at 134,987, but well above Charter Communications at 3,656 and Cox Communications at 3,487, both of which were named in far more answers.
Highly rated for generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and flexibility, with employees reporting strong support systems.
The gap
The press story is about content: sports rights, hosts, channel moves and launch events. The AI answers in this snapshot did not carry any of that. The questions about content catalog scored 0% for SiriusXM.
The two places SiriusXM did appear were an employer question and a cancellation question, neither of which shows up in the recent headlines supplied. Coverage volume alone did not produce answer visibility here. Charter and Cox have less news coverage than SiriusXM but appeared in many more answers.
What to watch
For a comms team, the first takeaway is that in this snapshot the assistants rarely reached for SiriusXM on category questions. Their category answers were built around carriers, cable companies and video streamers.
The second is that when SiriusXM did surface, Perplexity's answer tied it to cancellation complaints, and it cited sources for that. Which sources sit behind that framing is worth checking. The Gemini employer mention points to a different reputation thread, around paid time off and flexibility.
These are single snapshots of live answers, and results vary between runs. A repeat measurement would show whether the cancellation and workplace threads recur, and whether content-focused questions ever bring the brand in.
