How the answers frame Scale AI
This snapshot is from 29 September 2026: 250 benchmark questions put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, 1,250 answers in all. Scale AI was named in 32 of them. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity each named it 5 times out of 250. Grok named it 12 times. Scale AI sits near the bottom of its sector set, level with Stability AI, while OpenAI, Google DeepMind and Anthropic appear in well over half of their answers.
By question intent, visibility was highest on employer questions (17%), then leadership (8%) and avoid-style questions (6%). It was 2% on trust, 1% on safety and 0% on reliability, value, service, innovation, sustainability, data privacy, model capability and developer ecosystem. The credit tags on its mentions were mostly "Not Substantive" (3), with one "Labour & Workplace".
The four stored answers show the pattern. ChatGPT listed Scale AI in a table of private AI companies by valuation, at about $29B, citing privatemarketview.com. Claude named it among the companies that joined the White House voluntary commitments in September 2023. Perplexity placed it with Palantir as having influence through government and defense work. Grok, asked which AI companies have the worst reputation among employees, put Scale AI alongside Cohere and cited Glassdoor-based analyses, describing a rating of about 3.5 and long hours as the norm.
None of these answers framed Scale AI around a product, a capability or its own safety record. It appears where a list needs another name.

What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index shows 22,115 mentions of Scale AI over the past 30 days, with the brand in the headline of 1,364. That is heavy volume, well above several peers that the assistants named more often.
The five most recent headlines supplied use "scale AI" as a verb phrase and are not visibly about the company. They include "Enterprises Scale AI From Training to Inference", "Evvy Raises $40M Series B to Scale AI-Powered Precision Diagnostics & Care Platform for Women’s Health" and a Twelvio partnership headline. The raw mention count for a brand whose name is an everyday phrase should be read with that in mind. The data supplied does not show a clear company-specific press storyline.

The gap
The press index shows a large volume of matching text. The assistants gave Scale AI a narrow and thin presence. It was named in only a small share of answers, and on most question intents it did not appear at all.
The answers that did name it drew on third-party aggregators and lists: valuation trackers, a summary of the White House commitments, lobbying and contracting coverage, and Glassdoor roundups. The employer question is the one place where Scale AI carried the story of an answer, and there the source was jobsbyculture.com and a dev.to analysis, not the company's own material.

What to watch
A comms team for Scale AI would note that in this snapshot the employer angle is where the assistants engaged most, and that Grok, which named the brand more than twice as often as any other assistant, framed it through employee ratings. Those answers cited jobsbyculture.com and dev.to. Those domains, and the Glassdoor data behind them, are the sources shaping that answer.
The other openings are the topics on which the brand was absent: trust, safety, reliability, data privacy and model capability all returned little or no visibility. These are single snapshots of live answers, and they vary between runs. Repeat the benchmark questions before treating any of these figures as a settled position.
