How the answers frame OnTrac
This snapshot, measured on 2026-09-29, covers 250 benchmark questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, or 1,250 answers in total. None of the questions named a brand. OnTrac was named in 57 of those answers. Grok named it 24 times out of 250 and Gemini 13. ChatGPT named it 9 times, Claude 6 and Perplexity 5. Visibility by question intent was highest for small-business fit at 10%, then reliability at 9% and speed and tracking at 8%. It was 0% on the "avoid" questions.
In the five sampled answers, OnTrac was rarely the subject. On tracking questions, ChatGPT and Grok listed it among UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS and Amazon Logistics, and the visible text centered on UPS, FedEx and DHL. On the employer question, Perplexity said OnTrac "appear[s] on a recent courier-employer list" alongside the national carriers and TFI International. It gave the praise for pay and schedules to UPS.
The clearest OnTrac framing came from Claude on small-package rates. That answer named USPS Ground Advantage as the cheapest option, then presented OnTrac as a regional alternative for the Western US. The credited-for data is thin: four mentions tagged "Not Substantive" and one tagged "Price & Value".
Against peers, OnTrac sits in the lower-middle of the sector. FedEx was named in 898 answers, UPS in 885, USPS in 589, DHL in 484 and Amazon Logistics in 393. OnTrac's 57 is close to J.B. Hunt at 56 and Kuehne+Nagel at 56.
OnTrac covers the Western US and offers ground delivery often 20% cheaper than UPS/FedEx…
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index recorded 135 mentions of OnTrac over the last 30 days, 62 of them with the brand in the headline. The recent headlines fall into two storylines. One is a "Dynamic Savings Program" for parcel shipping, described in syndicated headlines as "Industry-First". The other is Josh Dinneen joining OnTrac as a strategic advisor. One headline from indexbox.io describes the pricing as tied to network capacity.
That volume is small next to the national carriers. UPS has 34,392 news mentions in the index, USPS 28,258 and FedEx 21,769. DHL has 10,710. Only Amazon Logistics, at 177, has a lower news count than OnTrac among the larger carriers, and it was named in 393 answers.
UPS drivers are particularly noted for competitive pay and dependable schedules.
The gap
The press story is about a pricing initiative and a leadership addition. The AI story is that OnTrac is one name in a list of carriers, plus a Western regional option with lower ground rates in one Claude answer. Neither the Dynamic Savings Program nor the advisor hire appears in the five sampled answers.
The comparison with Amazon Logistics is worth noting. It has a similarly small news footprint (177 mentions) yet appears in far more answers, so news volume alone does not account for how often an assistant names a carrier. OnTrac's small-business-fit and reliability questions produced its highest visibility, but the sampled text gave those themes little detail.
What to watch
A comms team could check what the assistants say when they do name OnTrac. In this snapshot the sampled answers gave it a price angle and a regional-coverage angle, but little substance about service. The pricing claim in the Claude answer is one the company may want to trace to its source.
The team could also watch whether the Dynamic Savings Program and other announcements reach the cited domains the assistants draw on. Live answers vary between runs, and these five samples are not a ranking. Repeat the benchmark questions before treating any of this as a pattern.
