How the answers frame Nvidia
This snapshot, taken 2026-09-29, covers 250 benchmark questions put to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, for 1,250 answers in total. None of the questions named a brand. Nvidia was named in 151 of those answers. By provider, that was 56 of 250 for Grok, against 20 to 28 of 250 for each of the other four. Grok carries much of Nvidia's presence here.
Nvidia mostly appears as one name in a longer list. Claude's answer on who leads in AI placed it among the big tech firms that hold the infrastructure layer, while startups were described as innovating in specialized areas. The Perplexity answer on Washington influence said Nvidia matters "because of its role in AI chips and semiconductor policy", after naming Microsoft, Google, Meta and Amazon as the strongest lobbying forces. Gemini, asked about community programs, gave Nvidia the first bullet, describing AI education commitments and academic hardware and software grants.
Risk is the other main frame. In the legal and regulatory risk question, ChatGPT put Nvidia near the top with Meta and Alphabet, citing antitrust, privacy, copyright and export-control rules. Grok called out antitrust risk tied to its chip dominance. Grok's answer on early-career employers grouped Nvidia with other Big Tech firms as prestigious and stable.
The visibility figures by question intent follow the same pattern. Nvidia surfaced most often on leadership questions (50%), followed by employer (21%), innovation (20%), sustainability (19%) and developer ecosystem (17%). It was near zero on value, service, reliability and model capability. The credit tags on its mentions were mostly "Not Substantive" (7), with "Safety & Compliance" (1) the only other category. That fits a name that shows up in passing more than one that is described in depth.
Big Tech (Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Nvidia) captures much of the AI infrastructure value…
What the press is saying
PeakMetrics' news index shows 150,360 mentions of Nvidia over the last 30 days, 25,603 of them with the brand in the headline. That is close to OpenAI (155,993) and above Anthropic (132,852) in the same index.
The recent headlines are mostly about money and the CEO. They cover an expanded share buyback, a stock move on the repurchase program, a GPU price surge and a Jensen Huang message to shareholders. Two headlines touch AI safety: one on a software tool Nvidia is touting to contain runaway AI, another on Huang rejecting AI doomsday fears.
Hardware leader Nvidia also carries notable antitrust risk due to its dominance in AI chips.
The gap
The press covers Nvidia as a market and management story. The assistants place it in the infrastructure and policy layer of AI. In the sector peer list, OpenAI, Google DeepMind and Anthropic were each named in roughly two-thirds or more of their answers, with news volume in the same range as Nvidia's for two of them. Nvidia was named in 151 of 1,250.
The safety storyline shows the gap most clearly. Headlines carry Huang's argument that AI does not threaten humanity's survival, and a tool to contain runaway AI. Safety-intent questions surfaced Nvidia at 5%. In Claude's answer on which companies keep safety promises, Nvidia appeared only in a list of firms that joined the White House voluntary commitments in September 2023. That answer named Anthropic as having the strongest reputation on the topic.
…also matters because of its role in AI chips and semiconductor policy…
What to watch
This is a single snapshot, and live answers vary between runs. The pattern still gives a comms team a few things to check. First, whether the antitrust and export-control framing in the risk answers matches the risks the company itself would name. Second, whether the Gemini education-program credit and the employer framing recur, since those are the answers where Nvidia was described in substantive terms. Third, whether the CEO's safety messaging in the press ever reaches the safety and trust questions, where Nvidia's visibility was 5% and 7%.
Because Grok produced much more of Nvidia's presence than any other assistant in this snapshot, it is worth tracking assistant by assistant rather than as one pooled number.
