How the answers frame Maersk
In this snapshot (measured 2026-09-28, five assistants, 25 answers), Maersk was named in 6 answers. UPS and FedEx were each named in 20, DHL in 19 and USPS in 14. Maersk appeared once each in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, and twice in Claude.
Sustainability was the dominant frame. Four of the six answers came from the question about which logistics companies are most committed to sustainability, and the answers credited Maersk for sustainability and ethics four times. ChatGPT singled out Maersk's climate targets. Gemini described it as integrating decarbonization across ocean, air and road freight. Grok listed Maersk first among its standouts and described it as frequently ranked first in a sustainability magazine list. Claude was the outlier: it led with DSV and gave Maersk one line about exploring alternative fuels and electric freight.
Reliability was the second frame, credited twice. It came from the two answers to the question about the most reliable shipping companies. Both assistants placed Maersk under ocean or container shipping, apart from the parcel carriers. Claude cited an on-time performance figure of 74.1% for Maersk. Perplexity named Maersk as its pick for ocean and container reliability.

What the press is saying
The PeakMetrics news index recorded 3,182 mentions of Maersk over the last 30 days, 741 of them with the brand in the headline. That is the smallest volume in this peer set. UPS had 34,392 mentions, USPS 28,258, FedEx 21,769 and DHL 10,710.
The recent headlines are commercial and financial. One covers shareholders reading a new ship order as a strength signal ("It could lure investors back"). Two cover the A.P. Moeller-Maersk ADR rising over three months. Others cover a new German logistics centre and the company expanding its operations at Kribi in Cameroon. None of the sampled headlines is about emissions targets or schedule reliability.

The gap
The AI story and the press story cover different ground. The assistants used Maersk as a benchmark for climate ambition and for ocean schedule reliability. The sampled headlines describe an investor story and a physical-expansion story.
The assistants also grouped Maersk differently from the news index. In the reliability answers it sat in an ocean-freight slot, and the parcel carriers filled the main slots. In the sustainability answers it was named alongside UPS, FedEx, DHL and others. The unbranded questions were about shipping and logistics in general, so Maersk was a supporting name in four of the five assistants' answers to the sustainability question rather than a default answer for the whole category.
What to watch
For a Maersk comms team, this snapshot shows which claims the assistants repeat: net-zero timing, decarbonization tools for customers, and schedule-reliability rankings. Check which sources support those claims, because Grok's answer leaned on trade-publication lists and ChatGPT's cited Maersk's own climate page.
The answers are one run per question, and live answers vary between runs, so treat this as a baseline to compare against later runs, not as a ranking. Two questions are worth benchmarking repeatedly: the sustainability one, where Claude gave Maersk the thinnest treatment, and the reliability one, where only two of five assistants named Maersk at all.
